PM API David - he's intimate with how body parts fit together etc. He can advise on likely pitfalls/time taken, etc...

ok mate, i nkow alot of persons have done this mod. but i can not find any read up about it.

got the bumper ect, a little damaged. easy sorted but fitting the early classic one a number of times, i noticed certain things/point missing

just need to make sure of whats needed like.
may put pics up to help others doing this mod

unglenorm 31 July 2010 04:07 PM

doing same on my ver3 sti would be interesting to know of any problems

duds64 31 July 2010 04:27 PM

is it front or rear? i put a face lift front bumper on my 94 classic with no problems:)

dabow 31 July 2010 07:52 PM

sorry, front facelift bumper mate

i'll be fitting the rear one soon.

dabow 31 July 2010 07:53 PM

if the main suport is the same, and the side fixing
then all i'll need is the plates for the sides if theres any.

dabow 02 August 2010 10:44 PM

pm'ed david at api, the guy must be busy with all them scoobs

anyone else know whats in volved.
also the rear, aare they the same to fix

unglenorm 03 August 2010 06:19 PM

i asked a mate he recons str8 on

The Pink Ninja 03 August 2010 06:25 PM

Pm Neil, E_M_B is his username, he should be able to confirm it for you, top guy and very talented in the bodywork and scooby department

Scoobdogg 03 August 2010 06:32 PM

Bit of gaffer tape an some pritt stick it should fit alright.

But seriously just spoke to my man who did the exact same thing as I'm about to do it when the bumper arrives an it's a straight swap over.

dabow 03 August 2010 06:50 PM

need to make sure, as the early classic has a alloy plate to each side. clips on the body and the bumper clips to that. im thinking the 99on has a simerler thing
makes a tighter fit with no movment to the sides, if i was to just bolt up. it would be to easy for the bumper to come off.

dabow 04 August 2010 10:39 PM

pm'ed acouple of persons on this

nothing so far, but looking at the bumper closely. theres a slight imprint of a bracket.
so there must be one, will be different than the early classic bumpers.

so before i go ahead and respray the bumper in 599 red, i need to get this, or what ever suports the sides of the bumper.

dabow 05 August 2010 10:34 AM

i've looked all over the net. can not find a singal page on this.
even for the early classic bumpers. and i know they have them

i think the next call, is to contact a good breaker really.
they should know, i hope anyways

I just caught up with this.

Assuming turbo bumper being swapped for turbo bumper?

Then yes it fits, On the early car bumper mounting bracket you might need to chop off the hanging down brackets that come out by the spotlight holes to gain clearance. No sweat chop away.

But otherwise the mounting blade itself fits both styles of bumpers.

Good Luck, David APi

just looks different looking at the bumper.
need to spray it all first before putting it on like.

if i remember, the main suport beem i have, dont have the drop out for the spots. but know which one your onabout mate.

if i was to get the proper side support bracket things, where would be the best place to get them

do your self have them at all?
and if so, what sort of price would you be asking for.:thumb:

Neil.. 05 August 2010 07:36 PM

Every late facelift classic I have dealt with has not had the side support brackets present, either because they never came with them in the first place (Subaru trying to cut costs), or they have fell off.

Either way, it is no big deal as it doesn't really do much.

The onlt thing I would suggest, is to used a nut/bolt with large washers to fix the bumper to the wing, and make sure all the clips are in to the wheel arch liner for a little added support.

Neil. :)

thats what was bothering me mate, them sides being too flimsy
but every car ive seen, have been the model before or they have been damaged
and been thrown away like

its cost quite abit getting the bumper/differnt grill/rear bumper ect
and the splitter, so really want to make a proper job
on them

guess i can sell the bumpers/splitter & grill i take off
should look good once i've sprayed it all and fitted em

unglenorm 18 August 2010 07:01 PM

got mine on now no problems. pics to follow:)
