Idle Control Valve

Hello everyone.

I'm a friend of Mr Gimp and this is my first post so go easy!

I have a 1994 WRX and just lately when she starts she's been a bit chuggy but very quickly clears. One day this week she started ok then after a 10 minute drive I stopped for about half an hour and she took 4-5 long cranks to fire up! Haven't noticed the CEL come on but when I done the diagnostic check it came up with code 24. Could the Idle Control Valve cause this? Going to give it a clean tomorrow. Can I just undo the to screws and pull the top off or do you have to undo the four nuts?

Any advice would be good.

Norm.

i would take out the 4 bolts so you can clean it out inside if you take off the top you can't get to clean anything so take it off the inlet manifold and spray it with lots of carb cleaner and watch the muck fall out of it also clean the one way valve and rubber coller which sits in the whole behind the idle valve but remember which way is goes back in

hope this helps

Guys,

Just been on the phone to Norm. He still has this problem. Staight away I suggested the ICV or the MAF.
Norm has cleaned both of these with no luck. So I was a little confused?

MAF's are tricky buggers so cleaning cannot always resolve the problem. But have said no point replacing the MAF if that isn't the issue.
Same about for the ICV really.

Anyone got anymore ideas? Fuel Pump,FPR Or maybe a split in a hose?

Steve
