Music to iPhone 4 without iTunes?
 

Hi,

having previously used cm manager and sharepod neither of these work on the new v4 on the iPhone saying the phone is not writeable/not supported.

Is anybody using something other than the bloatware that is itunes to copy music across?

that's the one I've normally used but apparently doesn't write to IOS4 and is read only - no good for transferring files to it :(

I can't imagine using an iPhone without iTunes, I couldn't be without the synchronisation and backup. Some of my apps use iTunes for file sharing as well. If it was too big a program for my machine, I'd upgrade.

Its not that it's too big - I just find it too controlling and I don't think I'm a minority :-)

Sharepod also is read-only so I'm stuck! :(

Yet you still brought an Apple product?, controlling is what Apple do. Like Jack said all these programmes are written to make life easier, they all interact, and like wise i wouldn't want to use anything else.
Trying to make something else work is immediately more effort than is needed with the provided handcuffs, sorry i mean software:D

I'm an Apple Fan but itunes is far from being perfect and we all know how big companies like Apple, Micsrosoft etc. fill their products with endless guff - itunes being an obvious example for me! :)

If nobody challenged the order of things and went 'by the book' the world would be a very different place :)

All power to you, it sure would be boring if iTunes was the only option.

I just took a quick look at iTunes and can honestly say the only part of it I don't use regularly is Radio.

Home Sharing was added a couple of versions ago, some might consider that bloat but it's an absolute dream to me. Couldn't live without Genius Mixes and Playlists, just Genius.

Anyhow, will be interested in what you find as at least one person asks me the same per year.
