What 1st / 2nd gen console game would you like to see brought up to date?

Now that the xbox and Ps3 are well into there lifecycle, do you have any old

games that you would like to see re-released / given a slight makeover and

unleashed onto a new gaming generation?

For me it would be "ICO" originally released on the PS2, even now, it still

captivates me, and currently has my seven year old swinging his wooden

stick in anger :D:D

I'd like to see it brought up to date and re-released cross platform.

What other games would you like to see?

They did that with Tomb Raider, didnt they? 1996 PlayStation game/story with the latest Xbox360 engine. I dont think that it sold brilliantly, despite being the best game.

It was more an evolution, as opposed to a re release, as the series had

moved on some way.

TBH, whilst the first was groundbreaking, the 2nd and subsequent games,

moved the original concept to any action adventure you can buy today.

The last 3rd gen console release was good, but needed more depth &

longevity.

Its been looked at a number of times, but falls over due to the number of

differing parties involved who all hold licences for the game.

Non can agree on the way forward

GoldenEye for me as well.

I just downloaded Karate Champ for the iPhone, I spent way too much money in the arcades playing that!

the very first 3DO versions of Road Rash and Need for Speed.

I wasted hours on those 2 and would love to play them again.

Yes, I forgot about those they were both excellent. Even Crash'n'Burn was quite good.

all the games i used to play, i just don't have the reactions for now; speedball 2, xenon 2, r-type, xybots, etc

i always regret not getting to play with a PC Engine too. those were definitely an object of desire.

ChefDude 24 July 2010 01:15 PM

why are there still double posts?! :/

It is 'inspired' by the original GoldenEye, so lets hope they don't fluff it up.

I loved the original goldeneye on the N64. had many nights in with mates drinking beers and playing 4 player death matches. I don't see the new version living up to the memories to be honest, and younger players won't remember the original and will probably feel fairly indifferent to the new version given how bad every bond game since goldeneye has been.

For me I would love to see a rerelease of Supermario World on the SNES with updated graphics like New supermario bros Wii, for me it was the best mario game ever.

Maybe Streets of Rage 2 as well

Ant 24 July 2010 02:28 PM

I'd love to see ridge racer swell, loved that game

J4CKO 24 July 2010 02:30 PM

I have an N64, was old when I got it but came with loads of games, kids used it, played Goldeneye the other day, just seems slow, old and tedious now.

Agree on the Destruction Derby, with what they can do now with particles, bits falling off and the massive power available, it would be epic. The only Banger Racing game is Seduction of Destruction and thats based on the ancient Carmageddon 2, the companies then sell us another F1 game or Rally game or drag out the release of a racer longer than the consoles lifespan when what we want is to bang old Cortinas and Capri's together !

Will 24 July 2010 02:52 PM

Same as antc, Street of rage was cracking. I have the first on my iPhone thanks to antc ;)

And as said above, Sonic 4 which is coming out, in chapters I believe? And will be available on the iPhone also. http://www.sonicthehedgehog4.co.uk/en/

And again as above, Destruction Derby.

Mart, as specialx sais, Goldeneye re-mastered is out for the Nintendo Wii this November. A quick search got me this :) http://www.asda-entertainment.co.uk/...paign=gp_games :thumb:

I loved the original tomb raider remake on the xbox 360, many a teenage year was spent fantasisng about those pixilated breasts.

Bravo2zero_sps 24 July 2010 10:37 PM

Would like to see WRC4 off the PS2 be renewed for the PS3. The best rally game i've played (with racing seat/wheel/pedals setup).

I am looking forward to the latest F1 game to come out later so that I can drive all the newer tracks.

The problem with older games, is that we are constantly fed new "goodies" as games go on, you remember the older games being amazing, while your brain totally forgets that compared with todays games, the controls of older games are horrible, and feel pretty gash.

I was playing "Another World" this morning that i remembered from my Amiga, yeah, i remembered it being pretty amazing.

Playing is probably the wrong word, as i fired it up, watched the intro, then was killed on the very first screen because i never pressed up and i drowned
Restart, press up, yeah! this is awesome, i remember this!
Some black thing comes out the water and kills me
Restart, press up, then press right to escape the black tentacle thing, yeah! this is awesome, i remember this, hey whats that moving thing on the floor, it kills me

**** it, this is SHOITE!

SirFozzalot 27 July 2010 12:46 PM

Armour-Geddon by Psygnosis springs to mind that could be cool.

I loved that game, you had the choice of going out in tanks, hovercraft, helicopter, fighter plane, bomber.

An online, co-op could be great with players in different vehicles.
