Summary:
- 20 min. Q&A with Dr. Shigeyuki Hori, Project General Manager for the Sports Vehicle Management division and Kazuo Okino, Group manager for the same division
- FT-86 development schedule is on time (confirmed categorically) and alleged release delays (until 2013) are false
- Toyota reiterated its intent to release the car by the previously appointed date, in November 2011
- Development is 50% complete
- Target price remains steady for mid-level spec FT-86 – approximately 2.5 million yen (approximate $29,000 USD) for Japan Market
- No decision yet on turbocharging
- Production version overall body shape and design will remain virtually unchanged from concept model
- No hybrid version being considered (whew!)

However, in the UK I bet it costs a lot more that the sub £20k target originally suggested.

I know, everyone will want 26 airbags, Sat Nav, electric seats, a huge stereo etc etc etc and wonder why the price goes up and it can barely move.

Jacko - visit any Audi/BMW/Merc forum and all most people bang on about is a NASA space computer, 25 way electric seats, vast alloys and tyres, eyebrow coolers, etc, etc - all of which add WEIGHT.

I seem to be a small voice suggesting that a car is meant to be for driving not muppeting around on some hateful £2k++ in car computer that makes a £200 Tom Tom look cutting edge (e.g. BMWs i-drive which I hate can't do full postcodes...!! Even my mobile phone can do that!) and adds weight to an already tech laden heavy car.

The Toyota looks great but it'll need more power and sensible wheels to make it a hit IMO.

They will then remove all those parts, call it a TOMs light weight edition or RS and add £5 grand to the price!
