He was never going to be able to go straight really was he. A troubled childhood, murder, an adult court case, prison, changed identity.

I'm not saying he should be given sympathy, but it's just sad that once a child is damaged there seems little we can do in the way of recovery.

Unfortunately his name needs to be kept a secret as he'd probably get murdered by a SN kangaroo court member/dailmail reader halfwit adult, as apparently this would make it right.

Oh how you just love to have a pop at SN members, some might call it trolling;) Must be easy to spot them from your vantage point, upon your high horse that is!

He was found guilty of murdering James Bulger and also of downloading and distributing child porn. Do tell why he deserves to have his identity kept a secret when other murderers and child pornographers do not, what makes him so special - now that he is an adult?

Why is he so special and why does he deserve anonymity???

The abused go on to abuse, not all, but many do. In fact I wonder if there is a stat to show this? Most child abusers, were abused as children, you can't get away from this.

All we seem to do to the abused is offer sympathy....then they go on to abuse and we want them dead. Surely we can do something in the middle?

We have to try and understand why a child behaves in such abhorrent manners some time. Learn from it and try and stop other children falling the same way.

It's all too easy to disagree with this....I understand why people are angry.

They get abused, they get removed from their home, they get put in care, they get passed around, finally someone might adopt them.....(they've probably been abused again during this time, the abused tend to attract abusers). How much can a child handle is such a short life? Is it any wonder we get kids who we brand as evil?

Of sourse, you can continue to read and agree with what the dailymail says, I'll form my own opinions despite not being poular on here.

The new identity awarded him by the government and protection from the press WAS his chance at a new life/beginning, an opportunity to correct ( if possible ) the wrongs in his and others lives.

Instead he chooses a different path and downloads sickening images of exposed/vulnerable children. Having a 'poor' childhood himself should be the biggest motivator for correcting his own life and not an excuse for ruining the lives of many more defenceless children by downloading that **** and therefore promoting the evil trade.

Its just typical of the way the country is heading where the sympathy is awarded to the criminal and not the little tot whose life they chose to snuff out................

Also, given his background and upbringing do you think he had counseling and 'treatment' whilst inside and he was obviously deemed suitable for parole, for that he would need to know, understand and demonstrate right from wrong.
He then chose to do what he did, even after the help he would have received.

I am a parent, and I tell you what, I've had my eyes opened to children in the 'system' and kids from loving homes don't kill 2 year olds. They might do naughty things, but they don't kill children.

I am sure during the course of his incarceration and the events before and after it, he has had more care and assistance than just 'here's your new name, off you go.':mad:

IMO, every person, regardless of how fcuked up and warped they may be has a fundamental sense of right and wrong. Ultimately, its him that makes his decisions and not the excuse of a poor upbringing

If you really believe normal adults download child porn then there is something amiss with your definition of normal and moral compass - it is wrong, simple as that!

Go mention to Clare that this is normal behavior and see what reaction you get, i think she may feel a little different!

I think you will find most papers print a story and it is up to the readers to read between the lines. I have posted links to stories from most of the broadsheets as well as DM so what is the problem in that???

I will ask again, Can you explain to me why he deserves his anonymity, given the nature of his second offence, whilst on licence for Killing a toddler? Why is it he does when others that have committed the same or similar crimes do not have this???

You can go on all you want about his background, no one will argue that, as you say other kids go on to abuse yet they do not get the anonymity as an adult so why does he deserve to???

I think the point being made though is that he has wasted his second chance and should therefore no longer be granted the privileges that came with that second chance.

Yes I think we can all imagine what would happen if we took his anonymity away, the point is why should we care about that as he didn't care about what this society gave him.
