500,000,000 members or 8% of the worlds population.
That's the latest stats for Facebook. I'm sure like more forums etc, there are quite a few duplicate accounts, but that's a lot of people all the same.
Apparently 26 million are in the UK alone. I wonder how many pokes have been dished out between all those people lol. |

Can I officially say that 8% of the worlds population is a Cnut? Lol Personally I like Facebook for some of it's features |

Excellent news Paul, congrats mate.
FB can be heaven for crims but only if people are stupid with their personal information, such as constantly using gps based apps to say where they are I.e not home. As a whole for a sensible user it's a handy thing, and just like a global forum. For me it has been handy getting info on my daughter, finding out and spreading work on the death of a few friends now, and getting help or advice from friends worldwide. A lot of creeps and weirdoes on there though, no arguing that. |

I don't sit on it all day 'poking' people, throwing sheep at others and building farms and fish tanks! Those, perhaps, are the people you are referring too;) My brother is in the army and its an awesome way of keeping in touch, seeing pictures etc.:thumb: |

Great for a laugh at times with silly photos, but excellent for keeping in touch. |
I still feel safer by keeping away from it.

Les Some people have no need or use for it, which makes perfect sense, but others seem to think it's state run or something lol. |
I love Facebook. Trout got me into it ages ago. Was a bit sceptical at first, now I think it's great. :thumb:

why can't you just use email
I have a facebook account btw - rarely use it, just seems a bit inane to me I am a middle aged grumpy old sod, so feel free to say - "you just dont get it grandad" and i will resume the cataloguing of my Last of the summer wine video collection Status posting, sharing good/ bad news, sharing photos etc with large groups of people in one hit, and having a laugh and a joke about them. When you email a group the discussion can get confusing. I hope you catch my drift. Joining billions of groups, playing loads of game, joining gangs and poking people is really not my thing lol. |

The difference between FB and e-mails is people you know will just post up some random info and it will spark a chat. Whereas e-mail, depending on the person you both might never bother. I banter on with people from work on there from time to time, but I'd probably never bother e-mailing them. It's a place for a bit of easy contact/ being a bit nosey for some (inc. the chat when it works) but providing you don't disclose too much information, I don't think it would be of any real harm. People who give full details and an update of every waking moment are potentially asking for trouble though. That issue comes down to how responsible or careful the user is really. |

Les updates from other people statuses, and other such, just like a forum, but for you :) Lisa, same ere luv, although there are some points that there are lots of updates, but thats usually about mum or something else unfolding. People that throw a sicky then posting pictures from the club later that night or stuff crack me up. |
Thanks for the info' Snazy.
