Advice re New Car

Looking to replace my T plate Turbo estate after 10 years

Looked at late hawk & the hatch

Anyone with experience of both care to offer their thoughts.

Thanks !

There both good cars ,but in my opinion the hawkeye is a much better looking car. The hatch a little more ecconomical with the new SI DRIVE so you can switch between road/sports mode which sharpens up the car. One thing that is popular with the UK/Euro hatch is that they tend to melt pistons however the Jap version has a much more robust engine which is a 2.0l and is good for 450bhp plus on it's standard internals if you were to go down the tunning route. The MY06/MY07 hawkeye Jap spec also uses the same engine as opposed to the UK spec 2.5 lump.

Will you be doing any trackdays?

Had both, 2006 Hawk WRX and now on a 2008 STI hatch, hawk was a lovely car but there is no denying the hatch is far superior in build quality and spec, the looks take some getting used to but for my needs the hatch is spot on, always had trouble with the saloon and boot space but the hatch is just much more practical.

IMHO everything about the hatch is an improvment on previous models, there are piston issues which you have to be aware of but that aside I am very please I made the change.

WRX hatch seams to not share the piston issues of it's big brother.

Plenty of superb deals out there for Hatch's with free PPP, free servicing etc etc... do some shopping around, the dealers really are having problems shifting he last few 2009/2010 cars they have in stock before the 2011 car is released... not that they'll want to import any 2011 cars in at the mo... current exchange would make the STI £34k!
