2.1 10sec DIY Drag Monster..
 

Well I've finally found the time to put up a project thread on my latest car - the objective a 600bhp + 10sec road legal drag car, the base being a GC8 STI 4 saloon..

I've already collected the following from Lateral Performance:-

-Custom Wiseco stroker pistons
-Crower/Lateral H-section Rod set
-EJ257 79mm Crank
-EJ20 Closed deck block (rear thrust converted,rebored)
-ACL Race bearings
-1.6mm Headgaskets
-Cosworth 11mm ultra high performance head studs
-Cosworth kevlar cambelt
-11mm high flow oil pump
-Cosworth Sump baffle
-Complete engine gasket set
-RCM rotated turbo kit
-Garrette GT35r 0.82AR with custom ported shroud
-Tial external wastegate
-Exedy Hyper Twin D-core clutch
-3 bolt Headers
-Solaris Syvecs S6 PNP, 3 bar map sensor, 3port solenoid
-Fuel labs FPR
-Fuel lab Billet filter

Parts I have sourced elsewhere :

-JUN titanium retainers
-JUN Valve springs
-Supertech Inconel valves
-Piper Custom spec 276 camshafts
-Hybrid FMIC
-Carl davey Modified reversed intake manifold - This has been heavily ported

Headwise a friend of mine who builds and races high spec VW's with over 10 years porting experiance has very kindly knife edge ported and gas flowed the V4 heads to a very high standard, he has also 3 angle cut the valve seats, lapped in some shiny new Supertech Inconel valves, and shimmed up the clearances to suit the custom piper 276 cams

I picked up a PPG straightcut box on here with billet selector forks complete with R180 rear diff and DCCD center diff at a decent price from a member on here so that sorts the transmission out out for now - I know this won't last long however im fully prepared to fork out on 6 speeder when required.

Fuelling wise I have yet to buy some decent billet fuel rails, 2 x Bosch 044 pumps and a swirl pot

Whilst there is no engine in the car, Im thinking of stripping all the unwanted sound deadening, carpet, trim etc

I've got loads of pics of the engine build in progress, head porting etc and will try and get them up as soon as I can

Very nicely thanks, 5 more 10 second passes so far this year and nitrous being fitted this week for the weekend round.

Only thing I would change is the 3 bar map sensor as that is only good to 2 bar gauge pressure, so a 4 bar would allow the 2.2bar that you'll probably want to run, with headroom and proper overboost fuel cut. I would add a NTK wideband sensor too.

Paul it may even be 4 bar sensor I'll double check the invoice tonight if it isn't I'm sure mark will swap it over for me :) as for the NTK wideband kit I'll need you to supply that when you come down to set up the base map
