FreeSat Box

Should i get one of these or something else?

I was going to buy one of these:

http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/product...=10087&cat=stb

it works with a sat dish, am able to record and watch the few HD channels.

Is there anything other you think I should get or is this good enough? I have a dish but think I need to run a second cable to be able to record and watch at the same time.

seems better value and you can get a lot bigger HDD with the £100 saving imo

I highly recommend the human box , brilliant boxes. Neil it maybe a years sub to sky but when you cancel it after a year hoe do you record after ;)

Looks pretty good value. We've got a Fortec unit with external HDD which can only do 1 channel for a similar price. Not sure how Humax compares, but it beats our TVs own SD upscaling by a mile.

You don't get many HD channels yet on Freesat and there are a few Freeview ones that are yet to make the transition, but I reckon its the future. Best of all if I ever lose my job I can start installing satellite dishes. ;)

guys, get a moveable dish and you can have as many freesat channels as you can shake a stick at. 28.2 is not the only bird in the sky y'know. ant, do you do polar mount or horizon to horizon installs?

Is it worth me looking into a freeview HD recorder box?

No, as mentioned. You get this, and a motorised dish, and it will pick up loads more channels from other satelites.

sorry no DiSEQ sotware in the box so it will not move a motorised dish. you need something like the top 2 boxes in my setup

Ac Ryan still there! :thumb:

Sinky no pal, I can do them but the company don't deal with them.

Motorised dishes are ok if you can be arsed to wait for it to lock on.

mine locks perfect. the HtoH mount takes about a minute to go from 30E to 30W. enough satellites in that 60 degrees to keep me busy. 1.2m triax with dual feed. the relook has a 500GB HDD in there. only prob is they dont do HD. was looking at the new dream 8000. £950......gulp.

yes the AC Ryan has been upgraded with new firmware and has played everything i have thrown at it. it even does full 1080 streamed over the network (if i have nothing else going)

I got a Humax box, two input thingy, recordable...I think it's 80gb things, it was about £160 a year or so ago.

The remote, the menus and the guide are no way as nice as Sky or as easy to use but it does its job adequately. One thing I do like is that when I record a whole series, they're all together in one folder. Also, I've never had to reboot it unlike the previous Sky boxes.

Overall I like it :)

The Sky + HD box is hard to beat.
