Just to save you scouring around (like I did) Get Toyo's if price is a consideration or Bridgestone SO2's if you want the best.

I have the Bridgestone SO2's and it just sticks (even off a wet roundabout it may slide a touch but just keep that foot to the floor and it sorts its self out and shoots off up the road :-}

I have a MY99 Impreza Turbo which is in need of two new front tyres although the rears are only half worn. The OEM tyres fitted are Potenza 205/50 VR16 RE010. According to my local dealer, Bridgestone say there are none of this pattern available in the country.

Any suggestions about alternatives? I am not worried too much about cost and would be prepared to change manufacturer. In view of the fact that there is more choice in Z-rated tyres, should I chuck out all four tyres and start again with something like SO-2 PPs?

Hello and welcome to Scoobynet

Try posing in the 'Wheels, Brakes & Tyres' section, there is a lot of info on tyres already there, also try

Get TOYO's if you want to be back at the tyre shop in 6,000miles!! - great grip though!!

Gislaved (I think thats how its spelt) are superb all rounders (if you can get them) IMHO

Mine are due replacement soon and I will be looking around for the best deal - I do not drive like a demon, so grip is less of an issue with me than the life of the tyre (even though it has a harder compound)

Pete,

I'd have to beg to differ. If you're getting through the Toyos in 6k you must drive like an animal.

I was getting 8k from my SO2's which are slightly softer, and (after geometry was checked) 15k + from the Toyos.

Not bad for a car that spends half it's life going round roundabouts.

Sorry Night Editor, I detract.

Personally I think the SO2's just have it, but there is not as big a difference between them and the Toyos as the price would suggest.

PS With an ID like that, I hope you're not a scumbag journo.....like me http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I must say that its the Calibra that rips through the TOYO's - I actually drive like a tart!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
