for those of you that dont know, i have just bought a Chocolate brown labrador puppy, he is about 11 weeks old now.
Right, i posted on here last week because he just keeps on biting, and when i mean biting.......if you could see my arms, it looks like ive been cutting myself !!!
It has got a bit better, but i want to stop him doing this for obvious reasons, any advice??

P.S. when he is biting mode, nothing seems to stop him, he just goes mental !!

:D :D :D :D

Hellllllllpppppppp

Have a look on Pet Planet

This link should take you directly to the 'Behaviour' section, there may be something there of help, failing that there is a Vet Billboard on that site, you can post questions and they'll be answered by a vet. There's also lots of links to other sites regarding pet behaviour problems. Sorry I can't offer any practical advice! :)

When he bites, grab him round his nose/mouth, hold it closed and smack the little git on the arse.

Hold him for 30 seconds until he is dead calm, then let him go.

After a couple of repeats, he will learn that it is not good to bite you, you will have re-afirmed yourself as the boss.

Dont worry, you wont hurt him, just be v firm with him.

Cheers

PS. We've just aquired a 6 month old Staffie puppy from a rescue centre so I've been doing a lot of dog research ;) :D

Trained my two staffies plus many more mates dogs, I found that pinning them down and biting them back will stop it in a few days!!! ;) Puppies need to understand that you (and the family) are the top dogs, and that sort of behaviour isn't acceptable. You need to forget that it's only a puppy and it so cute, as when the dog is doing it in a years time it won't be funny.

You got to be crule to be kind. Start training the dog immediately, whilst you have a chance.

whack it

Diablo 02 April 2002 12:10 PM

Don't listen to Tiggs.

We have already established he knows feck all about dog training

Do you want the dog to fear or respect you?

Shaolin, guess the advice didn't work?

Takes time mate, lots of it. Got to keep at it. Just grab him when he does it and put him in another room.
