induction filter
 

guys,just a quickie.
would routing a filter inside the inner wing be ok on a bug eye with arch liner and foglight cover intact? will the filter get a sufficient amount of air or would removing the foglight cover be advisable?? (i have removed lights a long time ago):thumb:

We can't answer that question properly on the basis of the information provided.

You can usually fit a larger cone filter in the engine bay than you can in the under wing area so this alone may give you a clue on the best way forward.

In addition you haven't mentioned whether you're going to have the car remapped immediately after making whatever changes you eventually opt for. Most induction kits will knock out the mass airflow scaling, so if you are running a Subaru ECU, no, as a general point it won't be "okay" until it's mapped properly (or at least checked).

If you're underneath 350-400bhp or so there's no real advantage to an induction kit anyway.

cheers split-pin,it was more of a curious question :) but yes i am planning a re-map after some modding (i have all bits ready to fit but will not do so until funds allow for map).

and while im at it,although im no expert wouldnt the longer tract used for such applications smooth out the flow of air making it less turbulent or is it more the fact of the amount of air flowing that upsets the sensor??thanks bud,.

The longer tract wouldn't necessary smooth out the flow of air, no. It could well make it worse. The resonator on standard cars plays quite a big part in smoothing out pulsations and turbulence.

ah interesting.im always finding info on modifications useful and to be honest its surprising how much bad info you can recieve from mags and freinds and how certain mods can actually be detrimental to the running of an engine!
