What foods do you insist on being branded?

We only buy Heinz Baked Beans, Heinz Tomato Ketchup, Branston Pickle, Hellman's Mayonnaise, HP's brown sauce, Walkers Crisps, Colman's Mustard & Coca Cola.

Life's too short to put up with black baked beans on your toast! :lol1:

Trout 08 July 2010 04:26 PM

Most beef and lamb is branded...

SJ_Skyline 08 July 2010 04:26 PM

It's always got to be Heinz beans and ketchup :thumb:

paulg1979 08 July 2010 04:35 PM

Coke is a must

Well if you're interested we're having chilli-roasted chicken thighs, with Pak-Choi and boiled rice for dinner tonight. So only the Colman's Mustard will be joining us from the above list. :thumb:

chocolate_o_brian 08 July 2010 04:50 PM

Not much stuff we buy is branded as the Asda (non smart price) alternative is usually just as good. Me and Nat usually do a fortnightly shop for £80-£85.

fitzscoob 08 July 2010 04:52 PM

Guinness :)

Found a local farm shop nearby last week for a bbq at my mates place, the steak and pork chops were so much better than what I've bought from local supermarkets.

Tomato sauce and baked beans I'd agree with :)

dpb 08 July 2010 04:59 PM

I tried to pass on some of those cheaper brand black baked beans for the gfriends w/e breakfast :D
i wouldnt normaly take um prefering toms

- she buys the beans now

StickyMicky 08 July 2010 05:06 PM

Reggae Reggae Sauce
Helmans Mayo

The rest i can usually handle without an issue (including red sauce and beans), but the one thing i am quite fussy about is meat, pointless buying cheap, ****ty meat, sit down to a nice meal, she has slaved away in the kitchen to make it, 3rd mouthfull in and you get a right old GNARLY piece of bony, fatty gristle, urrrrghhhhhhhhhh.

All of those plus HP brown sauce (there is no other), Weetabix, Heinz tomato soup, Kellog's Crunchy Nut cornflakes, Robinson's Barley Water, Sarson's malt vinegar, Lyle's Golden Syrup, Atora suet, Jacob's cream crackers, Bisto gravy, Patak's sauces and pastes. :)

boxst 08 July 2010 05:20 PM

Just like everyone else it would appear: Heinz baked beans and tomato sauce. But also Pepsi Max and that is about it.

I prefer Walker's crisps, but will buy and happily eat other brands.

Ooh a big pet hate, burger vans that refill Heinz bottles with non gen' tommy sauce and ice cream vans that don't use genuine Cadbury Flakes! :D

mslorach 08 July 2010 05:41 PM

Hellmans mayo, I can't bring myself to buy any other brand for some reason.
We only buy British meat, regardless if it's cooked or fresh. This can be a nightmare in supermarkets as it can be classed as a product of the uk as long as it's packed here. The only way to be sure is if it has the red tractor assured foods stamp on it.
Best sticking to farm shops for meat though, much better tasting and a great variety if you shop around. We had local buffalo burgers the other week.

P1Fanatic 08 July 2010 06:00 PM

Gotta be Heinz ketchup as anything else Ive tried is very poor in comparison.

astraboy 08 July 2010 06:03 PM

McVities Jaffa Cakes. Any other Jaffa Cake is for heathens.
astraboy.

Lydia72 08 July 2010 06:05 PM

All branded for me. Anytime I've tried the value stuff it's been awful ... value for money is better than cheap as chips :thumb:
