Anyone know where can get a sensiable quote on a wrx sti uk MY06?

Everyone tired just give stupid quotes so far. highest so far been 17 grand :brickwall
The company with now , Greenlight wont touch me on till im 23.

Ive done a quote with Keith Michaels, so waiting for email off them back. Does anyone know any other companies i can try who are not going give stupid quotes?

very much doubt you will find anything under 3k i'm afraid mate... i regularly get raped of £211 a month for my 05 sti8 :(

i''m with aviva if it helps... best bet would be to find a broker and get them to search a billion companies till ones come out reasonable.

also small tip, always try to get a quote on the first or the last day on the month as that's when the biggest discount is available as they either have to fill there quota or aim to start well.

why are they so expensive to insure?

Had my STi insured with Admiral at 21 with 4ncb for £1900 on a multicar policy if that helps.

22 with 5 years protected, again on a multicar and it's £1300 this year.

At 21.....................good luck! You will be getting your pants pulled down wherever you go being a group 20 car and such high risk.

Personally, I am 29 and can only just scrape together enough for the insurance! The price of Subaru ownership I am afraid (its worth it though:thumb:)

im 22 and im with admiral and i pay £1400 fully comp. have you called the company or browsed the internet for it. only ask as its better to talk to them instead.

my mate who's 21 drives an RB5 and he has tuned it a fair bit and he pays less than me!
but he has something called farmers union policy. dont see why having that makes it cheaper but it does.

i maybe 21 but atm im driving round in a 343bhp 421 ft lb Focus ST 2.5 turbo which is quicker than a Standard and some modified STI's They will insure me on this with mods declared but no a 265bhp scooby :brickwall:brickwall

Mate I totally feel your pain! I had a 300+bhp mr2 modded through the roof and that was £700 and a bit all mods declared... I try insuring a 05 sti8 and BAM they want £2500!!!!

its purely down to the car, its insurance group and the image that it portrays. insurance companies know there flash, fast cars so unfortunately that's the premium you have to pay if you want one :(

Now remember that there are more Scoobs on the road in comparison to Ford ST's. So more premiums and more to nick, thrash, chav up etc. This all raises the price.

Also, why buy a slower car than you already have :D If you can't get insured on a standard one, you're really buggered lubeless on a modded one :lol1:

I'm old albeit still remember trying to insure my 1st car ... VW Golf GTi mk1 worth £1400 in 1993 :eek: I was getting quotes for £3k so went for TPF&T in the end - still £1200 ie almost as much as the car was worth!

Knew i would get asked that :lol1: . Well was hoping if could get insured on one then i could modify it power/ handling wise abit and do some track days in. With me been insured on the focus modified thought could get insured on a scooby.

Oh well, ill give it another try wen im 22 at the end of the year. Hopefully it'll come down enough to consider insuring one

Main age bracket to be deemed fit for these cars is generally 25, then insurance on a scoob takes a dramatic turn for the better ;) (well compared to the price at our age)

£2,500!!! :(, thats more then my very first car and it's insurance put together!... but it is werth it as i love my sti sooo much haha

Thats cheap , i was paying 3,300ish when was 20 on the focus, and the year before was paying 3,150ish on me Fez ST. 2,500 is cheap :D

insure it as a hill climding car.

All mods declaired aswell.

Had quote of keith michaels for 2,200 fullu comp.

Only problem was they rang me back after 10mins but missed the call and they had shut so just praying now that he wasn't rining to say it was a mistake :cry::cry:

Your insurance is expensive for a reason.

1. Young drivers under 25 have the most accidents
2. Your inexperienced on the road
3. its a group 20 car

When I was young, a group 15 car cost a fortune to insure, those had 130bhp, the last thing you need is more power in a car that has more ability than you, and which makes you feel your doing well, where in actual fact your not and when it goes wrong it will bite, and bite hard :(

Stick with the car at the moment, dont go modding, it will add stupid money to your insurance, dont mod and not declare, it will invalidate your insurance and give you 6-9 points on your licence when the cops pull you, just be happy you can insure on one.

Every car i've had and modified (not in a chav way, power wise) i have always added the mods to the insurance and always will. Really a remap shouln't cost the earth surely?

Its a group 20E car, its probably got a good 100 bhp over what you have owned before, and yes, it will increase quite a lot as you are high risk.
Just stick with the standard car, its got more than enough power as it is ;)

ATM i own a focus ST with 343bhp / 421ftlb so its actually less then what im use too, very less

a mate of mine has a car insured with admiral, normal fiesta st and keeps his STi garaged, when he wants to drive it, he rings admiral up and pays for short term insurance at a minimum of 7 days so normally saturday to saturday at £27 per week mods declard...

could be an option for younger drivers? maybe insure it once a month like my mate does

I disagree with older people on here a lot of people are very predjusticed (think that how you spell it) towards younger drivers. Im 23 i own a modified v4 type r, my insurance is on my own trade policy with my van and so i can drive customers cars, i paid £2050 with all mods declared and i dont live at home. Old folk say that we have not enough experience which really pisses me off! I hold a class1 and motorbike drivers licence which i think will do 10times the amount of mileage a week of a normal car driver, now isnt that experience? i have to be more alert whilst driving also, so why do people say this about young drivers? I also think that we have had to take a harder examination to pass our test too which wasnt around years before. I value my no claims and my license but there are worse older generation drivers out there than some of us younger drivers, so why all the bad comments? I come across older generation that dont even know the speed limit on most roads!
Back to the thread a couple of years ago elephant were pretty good for modified cars I also find that some local insurance orkers are pretty good too.

Not really, your in the highest class for accidents and there are far less young drivers than older drivers but far more accidents, work that one out ;)

Right, a traders policy is different to a private policy, plus you have to be a registered trader, it DOES have clauses in, quite a few actually, so read the small print, you may find your only covered 3rd party most of the time.

I find its actually an easier test than I took, there is more theory involved with the new test, but harder..... you should have had my test instructor who took me for my test :eek: you wouldnt have passed!


I come across lots of younger drivers who want to sit 3 inches off my bumper whilst im doing 30 in a 30 zone as they have come flying up behind me (whilst im in my astra diesel), being a dick of a driver comes with any age, but most young drivers take really unecessary risks, which older drivers wont do.
If you want to know what experience gives you and think its doing more miles or driving a big truck (seen more than one of these just pull out without giving a toss for whats beside them), then your not experienced enough ;)
