Your a motorist, bend over and take it like a good boy :D
Seriously, cars are easy targets and no ones going to give up theirs. Hence why my new 1 is a derv, £155 a year tax :D :D |
Heh, even worse is the new act they brought in in April, which is every newly registered car has to pay 2 years tax upon registration... for my cs400 that was nearly a grand! absolute joke, but there's nothing we can do about it. Don't know about you, but I need my car to get to work etc, and with petrol going up too, getting more and more costly.

|
buy a new fiesta thats what im buying the wife 20 pounds a year
|
Thank goodness the government who brought in the tax bands is gone.
The fact that they sold it to us as a green tax makes it impossible to scrap now. £110 for a diesel Civic to tax? My neighbour has a 116D which is far superior to a Civic and its £35 per year tax. RWD for a start....then there's the interior quality...Oh and before the BMW she had a Civic, which Honda took back due to "issues". |
i wish £425 road tax £375 insurance roll on september
|
It's a joke a 600cc bike pays £50 a year. At least my gas guzzler can transport five people at once...

Last time I looked.... fuel was around £70 a tank full, makes the VEL look insignificant IMHO.
I spend £700 on insurance, and around £1700 a year on fuel alone. dunx P.S. Man-up you whinny wimp... ;) |

The futures bright, the future smells of diesel! You should have waited for the Civic Hybrid later this year. £35 to tax, same mpg, peak torque just above tickover and doesn't sound like farm machinery;). |
i had leaflets through today tempting me to buy a honda fook that lol

The futures bright, the future smells of diesel! And all of your torque arrives in a lump and you need to change gear at around 4,500rpm if not sooner. :lol1: And as already mentioned it sounds like a cement mixer from the outside. I am actually quite happy as the car tax on my Spec C is going down from £435 per annum to around £220 due to the recent alignment of the manufacture date instead of import date. :thumb: |
Just paid £435 for 12 months.........Happy days!!!

Payback, spend it all on fun stuff . :D BTW was this a wind up £16 works out at under 5p a day a tank of fuel has gone more than £16 in the last year |

The futures bright, the future smells of diesel! I am quite impressed with PD or common rail diesels, I have to admit. I reckon my P1 has a power band from around 4K rpm to 7.5-8K RPM. Peak power is apparently 6.5K. My Skoda VRS has a power band from say 2K rpm to 4K rpm with the peak somewhere around 3.75K. The diesel's power range is only narrow in absolute terms. I could decat the P1 and remap to spool the turbo earlier but then I could do similar with the Skoda. What impresses me about modern diesels is that your can go from quietly cruising to high power just by flexing your right foot. A significant portion of peak power is available all the time, should you need it. In theory the same is true of modern petrol turbos. But the game seems to have moved on past Subaru for the time being. Where are their direct injection petrol engines to rival VW, Mazda, Mitsubishi etc? J. |

Have you ever driven an Impreza with a twin scroll turbocharger? :wonder:

It'll still get humped on emissions (and therefore road tax) and fuel economy.
I would say that due to the nature of how the boost is developed on a twin scroll engine that they do not need to be driven as hard in order to get even better performance than an equivalent single scroll engine. ;) I mean nobody buys an Impreza for the fuel economy but I was quite pleased that I could develop better and more useable power and get more MPG. I know that direct injection engines do give lower emission levels but Subaru have not yet brought this technology into their engines and that is why the Mitsubishi Evo is probably in a lower banding than my car, but has anyone bought their Impreza based upon it's tax banding? :wonder: |
