Oil for Hawkeye STi

Sorry, yet another oil question....

I purchased my Spec D from Cheam Motors who recommended running Castrol Edge 10W-60 oil which I have used since 10k. This was rather than the normally recommended Shell oil which, if I recall correctly, was a semi-synthetic oil although I stand to be corrected and not now important.

I've got my 60k service coming up and, speaking with another dealer they recommend Shell 5W-40 Helix Ultra which they say is fully synthetic.

Does any one see any problems changing to the Shell option and would it be OK to use the remains of my Castrol Edge for top up purposes or should I stick with the Castrol?

I assume if I was going to have any problems with the Castrol it would have been last winter. However, I guess the Castrol is providing better protection during the current hot spell.

Use Motul 10/40 300v, runs smooth and quiet on my Spec D.

Thanks 53 but the question is Castrol Edge or Shell Helix Ultra and, if I go with the Shell, am I able to top up with Castrol without issues?

I use a 5w-40 in my spec D fully synthetic, The shell oil is very good so no problems but to be honest to be on the safe side just top it up with the same oil that your using then you will have no worries :D
Have you looked at opie oils site they have all the best oils at good prices.
