Trouble on way home!

On way home today driving on a slip road in 4th gear doing about 60-65 entered main carageway and floored it to get going through a gap in traffic , Car spun up and pulled then power loss followed by pop bang out the back I have checked and there are no error or misfire codes stored onlything I can think of is I was low on fuel at time (fuel light on but still drove remaining 15mile home after this happend to get me home )

Any Ideas?

Do I need to worry??

If you're convinced/know you were low on fuel, then bound to be that.

This has happened to me... but was hooning round a corner at the time, so made sense.

From now on, best to regard quarter tank full as "empty" i.e. fill up BEFORE it gets to 1/4 full......

CHEERS JOZ

IF IT WAS BEING LOW ON FUEL WHAT CAUSES THE POP BANG ETC..

TOO MUCH AIR????

Lack of fuel supply, causing lean mix. Car probably starved, hence the power loss, and maybe a little knock, so timing would be backed off by ecu.
Fill it up with v power or tescos finest petrolium!
Then drive normally so the ecu can re adapt.

Yeah, a super-hot lean mixture pre-igniting, due to transient fuel starvation. Fuel, being liquid (albeit in atomised form), has fantastical heat quenching properties. Think fire hoses lol.......

In future, do everything in your power to prevent this from happening again - even if you're 'forced' to put the minimal amount of 95 RON in from the nearest petrol station, so as to get you home (off boost!). Unless you're mapped on 95 of course! ;)
