Creak & Leak ('96)
Hi Guys
Ever since I bought my 96it is has been leaking on the passenger side (nothing major only a spot), so I recently had the rocker cover seals replaced. Unf the leak is still there, which has me thinking either the seals were not installed correctly, or the leak is coming from the power steering. From what I can see the "drip" seems to be accumulating on the bracket of the ARB. Also, both of the rack boots are split. Furthermore, a creaking noise has developed when I turn the steering beyond half a turn. Almost like a crack noise. Does all the above lead to a failed power steering rack, or am I misreading the symptons? If so, can the seals be replaced, or do I need to replace the whole unit? Thank in advance for your help |
Anyone???
After some research I am begining to belive that the noise could be from wirn tie rod ends. Any test to see if they are worn? |
For anyone in the future having the same symptons
- Drip was from the rear bolt on the rocker cover being a little loose - The creaking / cracking noise was from a worn tie rod end. |
