hawkeye running water sound

Hi All, ive noticed this the last 2 weeks and seems to be getting louder...or may just be me coz i know its there.

after start up i can here fluid rushing round like water in a hose pipe and ive not noticed before. all levels seem fine as is the temp.

i do drive the car fairly hard but its always serviced every 6mths.

Any ideas?

Could be an airlock in the heater, is it blowing ok?

Air con system ?

Could be a air in the system (had the coolant changed or anything removed that holds coolant recently?) or could be an air build-up due to a head gasket problem.
Is the coolant expansion bottle full?

Does it still do this with the new engine or just when the head gasket went?

Mine had it til I took the air con out.

It is air con radiator afaik and nothing to worry about ie normal

Butty 29 June 2010 08:21 AM

Mines stopped doing it since a rebuild

I've noticed exactly the same thing over the last 6 months or so. If I sit with the engine idling and blip the throttle I hear the running water/gurgling sound from somewhere around the passenger footwell.

Nothing has been touched with regard to the cooling system and do not have any cooling problems - famous last words! - although just got back from Italy with high ambient temps and no problems so should be OK!

turns out its the aircon system that needs to be re gassed!! £70 to sort :)
