Which pistons and rods to get????
Hi all, I was just wondering which piston and rods to use in my 2.0 CDB? I want to achieve 400bhp, but I want to build the block to handle more in the future.
Your opinions would be much appreciated. Also, what figures have been achieved with these rods and pistons? Thanks |
All the main protagonists e.g. Cosworth, Wiseco, Omega, Wossner, Arrow, Mahle, etc. etc. are nomally rated at around 500+, so it's ultimately down to subjective preference/influences.
Obviously any given specialist/engine builder will push their own product - but that's no bad thing. I'd take it to your specialist of choice and just go with what they recommend. (FTR, and if memory serves, RCM's "The Gobstopper" has Omega pistons and Arrow rods........ I think!). Although it's constantly being developed/evolved, so maybe not, these days... |
Cheers fella. How do you all rate the Mahle pistons and rods?
|
I haven't any experience of uprated rods/pistons. But I expect Mahle rods/pistons will be fine.
Dont forget a full set of ACL Race Series big end and main bearings too. Oh, and a set of ARP OEM-sized 11mm head studs wouldn't go amiss either. STi MLS HGs as a matter of course, as well. |

Hi Glen, I bought my old car back. But, the fella I had it off blow the engine in it. So, I'm building the 2.0 CDB that I had a couple of years back

As you can see OP, pretty much any brand of after market forged pistons/rods are okay - as mentioned. ;)
