v4 sti induction hose upgrade (samco)?

hi all ive get a v4 type r which the induction hose has brok on so wanting to upgrade. Been looking at the samco but have heard bad things about them not fitting properly which i dont want when it costs a lot. Is there any other upgrade? Any suggestions?

Buy one of the other brands off ebay mate, autobhan or some of the none branded stuff, just as good as samco and half the price too lol.

I have a genuine Samco v.3/4 hose that I don't need. In perfect condition. Colour's orange.
Yours for £99 delivered.

BTW, a well known specialist (and others) reckons the only ones worth buying are the Samco and Viper jobs.

This is because they have reinforcing steel bands sandwiched in the layers of silicone. This means they are much less likely to collapse under full boost conditions i.e. when there's a great vacuum happening inside the hose.

ive heard about them colapsing under boost, im tempted but orange doesnt go with the theme of the car lol ill have a think. Does it fit straight on? Heard about it not fitting onto the next bit of pipe top the maf sensor

joz8968 24 June 2010 09:18 PM

Yeah straight fit. It has all of the oil and idle breathers and DV recirc port, a la the OEM part.

I'll drop the price to £89 delivered to tempt you more LOL! That's under half price of a brand new one - and mine is brand new in all but the fact that it's pre-purchased. Nothing less.

Have a look at the SFS stuff. Better quality than Samco etc

Look around on ebay or pistronheads mate,i have bought 2 in the last 4 months ,1st one cost me £50,last one cost £35.00,both samco items and much better and stronger than the original plastic crap that comes as std.+ dead easy to fit.
Regarding the SFS stuff cant comment, but who exactly said it was better quality than samco ?. If it was martin whitmarsh,or sebastian loeb,or martin shanker,or jason plato ,then i would listen, but fact is most aspects of motorsport choose samco and have done for a good many years - for what reasons ,definetley not price imho.

Nothing wrong with SFS products.
I regularly use them and don't have any problems with their products. - Their Turbo Inlet Hoses are wire reinforced BTW.

On a par with Samco products IMO - Both good quality :)

I also use SFS and they are a great bunch of guys over in Luton. I think the guy that runs the place is ex samco.

just had a look on there website and as said above:On a par with Samco products IMO - Both good quality .

G8RDK 25 June 2010 09:07 AM

Had a look at the sfs website, their the same price as samcon so ill probablly be sticking with samco, joz thanks for the offer but it really doent go with my engine bay lol

joz8968 25 June 2010 11:49 AM

No worries - I DO understand. ;)

It wouldn't have been my 1st choice either, but I was spending ages trying to find a 2nd hand v.3/4 Samco - so, at the time, went for it. ;)
