Queuing for the iPhone 4 tomorrow

Sad i know :)
But myself and the good lady mrs swiss have a dilemma*
Tomorrow our local o2 store opens at 8:02 am and has limited stock. We both are going for the upgrade so need to purchase and take out contracts. Problem is we have children at two different schools at opposite ends of town and need to do the school run !
So how do we get in there get the phones and get the ankle biters to school ?

Tricky one and we have tried coming up with different options.

Any remarks like you sad git and it's only a phone will be ignored :D

FlightMan 23 June 2010 09:40 AM

You sad git it's only a phone.

:)

Oh I forgot to add. Can the other half take the kids to school and you collect both iPhones? Taking her ID with you? Or ask a reletive to take them to school??

Gear Head 23 June 2010 10:08 AM

Seriously? really? honestly? :D

JPL 23 June 2010 10:14 AM

Obviously this is a dilemma of enormous proportions.

I'd take the kids out of school and call up work stating a bad fish meal has given the family a serious case of the sh1ts.

ChefDude 23 June 2010 10:23 AM

hire some one to stand in line?

Timwinner 23 June 2010 10:24 AM

Make the kids wait in line and give you a call when they are near the front, you can then leave starbucks and walk over getting to the front without having to wait outside.
Plus the kids are learning a valuable lesson on marketing thus it would be ok for them to not be at at school!!!

Either that or book a taxi for them.

SJ_Skyline 23 June 2010 10:26 AM

What's wrong with you man? Send one of the household staff to drop the kids at school like any normal person would! :)

That was one of the ideas but I doubt the shop will allow me to take out the contract for both of us. It may be the result is me getting my phone and mrs swiss missing out which in her words is " not on !! "

Thought of that :thumb:

Will 23 June 2010 11:35 AM

Cant you put a deposit down for mrs swiss and tell them that she'd collect it in a couple of hours? Phone the shop and ask them if they'll let you do that? If not, just phone the school and tell them the kids will be in a bit late ;)

DJ_Jon 23 June 2010 11:38 AM

I went into the o2 shop in the metro centre, they reckoned that they would be getting a delivery on Wednesday, then another on Saturday, so all is not lost if you don't make it down tomorrow.

Markus 23 June 2010 11:48 AM

It's only a phone (wonder if that's like telling a footy fan "it's only a game!" :D)

Not sure how to resolve your situation, but you're a git for being able to get your mitts on a device. As usual Canada is a second class citizen to the US. It'd not shock me at all if stock dries up very quickly and everywhere has delays as the US has to be taken care of first, same thing happened with the iPad.

I've got a feeling one of the chaps here is going to grab some units from the US, but nothing has been said, and it'd be odd for us not to have a device on launch day, especially as we've been coding for it for the past couple of weeks.

Gear Head 23 June 2010 11:54 AM

Good things come to those who wait. Get out in the sunshine and enjoy life rather than working it around a poxy mobile phone! :D

Xx-IAN-xX 23 June 2010 11:59 AM

Say hello to Jack Clark from us all (he'll be the one at the front):D

JPL 23 June 2010 12:18 PM

Vodafone originally told me I would be getting mine tomorrow, then they renaged due to a delivery mix-up. I "may" be lucky and get it Thursday, if not I will get it delievred before 10am Friday :-)

Good enough for me.

mart360 23 June 2010 12:33 PM

Been camping outside my local store since the Keynote speech last week :D

its not to bad at the mo, apart from the local plod thought i was a dosser, and kept trying to move me on lol.

I have an arrangement with the local phone store, and they let me use there loo and charge my laptop during the day.

Thank god ive only got one more night, the sores on my face and hands are starting to hurt now, and i do smell a bit rank when i move arouund too much

still its only a phone isnt it :)

I cant see the motivation to have it the day its out, I cant imagine anything other than food during a shortage being worth queing up for ?

It will be there next week, save the effort, go when the panic has died down, it will only be sad Apple perverts, it will look like a bleeding Gap advert circa 2001 outside an Apple shop in the morning, all beanie caps and sh1t.

Snazy 23 June 2010 01:08 PM

With over 200,000 available there MUST be an app for that, surely! :p

Good luck sorting it out mate :)

ChefDude 23 June 2010 01:26 PM

do you lose your place in the queue if you have to go pee?

regent street is not littered with public loos either!

Paulo P 23 June 2010 02:23 PM

I think it's really sad queuing outside the shop just to pick up a bloody phone :cuckoo: Wait a few days and don't queue like complete muppets :D

HTH :hjtwofing

ChefDude 23 June 2010 02:45 PM

Paulo, the sad reality is that stores won't have much stock, so if you didn't order one in good time from apple you might not get one until late july when stocks are replenished.

unless you queue of course ;)

Soundwave 23 June 2010 03:06 PM

Just phone in sick for the kids...screw the education ;):lol::lol::lol:

SwissTony 23 June 2010 03:31 PM

I love some of the replies on here, this kind of thread truly brings out the cross section that we have on here :lol1::lol1:

Paulo P ..you couldnt hobble down there for me and get one could you :hjtwofing :D

Going to go down early now and if it looks bad, revert to plan D (plan B and C are crap :D ) which is wait until someone comes out the shop and then jump them !!! :D

Paulo P 23 June 2010 04:19 PM

If only I could get down town mate lol :lol1: I'm going to wait until August to get mine, I can upgrade now but don't feel the need to rush. I might be able to walk by then :lol1:

Well one of the plans would be to send you to wait in line. Surely no-one would nobble a man on crutches :D

Paulo P 23 June 2010 04:30 PM

That plan is flawed because the shop opens long before I wake up:iamwithst :D

AndyC_772 23 June 2010 05:02 PM

You don't have to be awake, just present in the queue :)
