Hi wanting to go to Cornwall or Devon in a few weeks for a weeks holiday, has anybody got any info on private cottages or caravans to rent at a decent price thanks.

I live here (Cornwall) but don't know any off the top of my head. However, 'cornwall holiday cottages' in Google brings up lots of hits ......

Is it just you and your Mrs?
Or do you have kids?

If you have children, and can stand a haven park there is one called Perran sands in Perranporth, about a 15-20 min drive from Newquay.
Perranporth itself is lovely, and for the stay we had (a week) there was plenty to do. And as my son and daughter are still young, the 'entertainment' that these parks provide was quite enough before we retired back to the caravan for a few drinks.

I'm going to devon this year, and looked into one of those caravan parks...all seems peachy until you look at one on google earth, the one I saw near newquay look like the back yard of the south china shipping Co, hard to tell if they were chalets or steel containers.

I'd imagine they all look the same in google earth.

The Haven park in Perranporth nr Newquay was lovely. I have also stayed in Devon cliffs and my god! I read the reviews on line and I really wish I had taken them literally.

*lots if hills so not ideal for people with young children*
*havens flagship camp and one of it's biggest, be orapeted fir lots of excersise*

The whole park sits on the cliffs (hence the name) but with a double buggy (even though some argue that's a hell of my own making!!) it was a nightmare to get about on foot. A walk to the beach required refreshments upon arrival, and oxygen once back at the caravan.

That said, both parks were clean and well maintained. Well worth the bargain sun holiday price we paid. Even if the snob in me did upgrade. :)
