Why do councils cut the verges?
I mean out in the countryside? Yesterday I passed at least FOUR different mowing machines in a 60 mile run.
I just don't see the point? Surely, this is one area we could do without, and save money? |
I asked them around here once and they told me it was for insurance. They said if someone hits a curb or anything in the verge and the line is not clearly defined they can get sued.
At least thats what I think he said, he was grunting and had a mouthful of sandwhich. |
forward visibility lines for safety, On a B road high verges cut the forward visibility down by 50%... I lose most of my overtaking straights!
|
I think it's all to do with fire prevention, they keep them cut because in the high summer they would become tinderboxes.
|
You never know, they might even still have a bit of pride in the appearance of their manor! Like they always used to do.
