Apexi Panel Filter...........

Hi all,

Before i start there have been many questions regarding Subaru induction systems and ive researched most threads, forums, sites.....so on.

At the moment i use a standard panel system with an Apexi filter, my question is can i improve the airflow of the standard system? i.e losing some of the pipework in the wing. There is a resonator to the right of the MAF- is this to keep induction noise low- can i replace it with a staight pipe?

If this will upset my MAF or running of my car i wont bother.

In the next year or so i will go MAFless with a Simtek ecu.

My car details is in my garage........Cheers. Andy :thumb:

Your car details may be in your garage, but it makes it easier for other people to help you if you post detail like that up front in your post. Saves time and clicking.

Removing the resonator on late classics can negatively affect mass airflow measurement accuracy, but what it does on the (presumably early) car you have I couldn't comment on. Unless your car's modified to the point where the standard induction tract is a bottleneck, removing the resonator won't significantly improve power either.

Waiting until you get the Simtek sounds like the way to go to me.

What type of power figures could i achieve with the simtek with my following mods:

Td05 16g Turbo
Afterburner full decat downpipe
Afterburner decat center pipe
Vortex Backbox
Afterburner up-pipe
Apexi air filter
STI- TMIC
HKS EVC electronic valve controller
Turbosmart Megasonic DumpValve
Walbro Motorsport Fuel Pump 255lph

i know a FMIC will help but, that is on the to-do list. Not sure what injectors i have too??
