380 - 440 injectors

Does the standard cap just bolt down on to the 440s as they are a totally different shape? (see pics)

Also that damage on the top of the 440, will it cause any issues?

these wont fit your rails mate. i had the same problem, they are off a later model

GazJenno 09 June 2010 09:15 AM

Is it the caps that wont allow them to fit? Because I have the adaptors to make them fit in the actual rail.

Cheers,

Gaz

depending on what they are as i can t really tell from the pic, they look like they are off a later scooby, the grey injectors you have have no lip around the top of the injector the yellow ones do. This lip prevents them from sitting all the way down the cup on the rail even with the adapter kit. This is the problem i had anyway i think mine where off a version 5 or 6 and i tried fitting them to a version 3 rail. be careful as if they dont fit and leak fuel into the bores this can cause hydraulic lock in the engine and could cause massive damage

Strange, I have never read about anyone having problems like that before and have read quite a few posts about swapping injectors for background.

Mine are Ph.1 rails and 380s and the ones I bought are Ph.2 yellow 440s by the looks of it. So theres no way these can be fitted to my rail?

you use this kit from carl davey to fit later injectors to the early classic.

Yeah thats the kit I was going to get, but that just sorts out the lower part to fit to the fuel rails. My concern is with the cap/top of the injector and weather the standard cap will actually bolt this injector down?

included with the kit is little spacers
you need to take the little rubber bit out of the alloy support mate.

you have phase 1 rails, you need a phase 2 fitting kit.
i have an early classic, and have side feed 500ccblue injectors fitted

phase 2 flow better than phase 1.

So with that kit your saying these will fit? Are you reffering to that exact kit on the carl davey website?

yes mate, just remember to take that little rubber thing out under them caps ye.

if you closer at the pic mate, you can see it comes with spacers and slightly longer bolts.

i've fitted lots of these, and never had a problem mate.
a little tip for you too.

do one at a time, and blow throught the fuel feed hose, to make sure you have a good seal before moving to the next.

awsome cheers mate! You dont think that damage is a problem do you? As you can see the circular ring at the top isnt exactly circular now?

once you have the new seals on, lubricate them with something like wd40. then you can push them in place easyer and make a better seal with out nipping them.

i'm selling a set of 440cc ones know.
never really had any issues to be honist mate
