3 port boost solenoid??

Quick question on behalf of a mate. He has a 2004 Sti PPP and is having it remapped with a decatted exhaust. He's heard of fitting a 3 port boost solenoid but is unsure what it will do or acheive or if its worth fitting??

worth doing, finer boost control for mapper, slightly earlier spool and hold boost higher up the rev range

OK thanks for that i'll pass it on! Would this help on my 2005 WRX PPP? (getting it decatted and remapped too)

it will help a bit but as the turbo is so small it cant really push much more at high revs anyway, so not much more advantage, worth doing i suppose if you can get one cheap. or do the next step like i have given into- vf35, 3port, injectors and a map lol

Ok cheers! Will add that to the list for future mods!!

No need for it to go too high up the list. As has been said on your own turbo in particular the value would be less (although a car properly tuned on a three port will also give better low end spool and throttle response in comparison with the stock system).

If your friend and yourself are getting your cars remapped, the best person to ask about solenoid choice would be your chosen mapper.

Can be a small benefit as said but more of an advantage for early wrx's where the actuator is very weak. If you can pick one up cheapish then it certainly wont hurt and will help your chosen mapper to get the best results for you.
