Picture is REALLY dodgy now that I look at it again.....what an idiot....

Searching through the breakers in that area might not be a bad shout though- will give that a bash aswell!

ukjesters 07 June 2010 02:55 PM

Can't see how searching for breakers is gonna solve anything. Surely if he's as dodgy as he appears to be, then all he's done is saved the picture from a genuine sale and then put it up on pistonheads giving the impression that it's his own sale. I'd be very surprised if there was a link between the conman-breakers yard-car.

Regards
Rick

allsop83 07 June 2010 03:24 PM

Maybe right but I'm still kinda clutching at straws.... :(

Will await and see what the Police say about it- hopefully they will just be able to get all the details they need from the bank details and go and chap on his door.

That's bollocks I'm afraid matey. I was done for parts on pistonheads a while ago, as were a few others on here at the same time. I paid through paypal and the guy sold the same item over and over to various people, took all the money and ****ed off. When I (and others) complained to paypal, they said "Sorry, although we find in your favour we were not able to recover any money."

And that was it.

PJ-STI 07 June 2010 04:57 PM

He has taken the pic off PH now, so maybe he has seen this thread? Feel for you bud:( hope the old bill can trace him.

Do the "Clarkson" scam? Gift all of his money to a charity?

Oh the joy!

First post here, afraid I don't have a Scooby but someone on Pistonheads posted what this arsehole did.

If you have bank details that's a pretty good start, and this may be stating what you already know, but if you and this chap were emailing there is very probably info in the email headers that will contain his location, or his ISP which along with the date and time should point to where he was sending from.

Obviously no use if he was sat in McDonalds using their wifi, but may be of some use so thought I'd mention it.

Tomwrx 07 June 2010 05:57 PM

as above thats the email addy i got as well but recieved an email from him stating he would accept a check then 20 mins later i got another email to say the parts were sold so he may have read this and found out what some people were up to ,

really feel for u mate, but dont give up,

stann01 07 June 2010 06:09 PM

defo location can be found from email details, my wifes messenger was hacked and they sent loads of abusive emails to her family and friends, bought stuff off ebay bacause they changed her ebay password (the new one mailed to hotmail ) i found a website that pinpoints exact location of the sender after her sister resended email to me!
hope you get the feckers, good luck.

PH have pulled the advert. Very sorry for you mate but hopefully you get it sorted.

At least PH acted quickly to stop some other poor sod. SN Admin take note

pslewis 07 June 2010 07:25 PM

I don't trust anyone, that's just how I'm built .... but, even in the extreme, I could never imagine what makes someone pay £1400 to someone they don't know for something they haven't seen, touched or collected

I'm sorry you have lost money, but these people wouldn't do it if there was no-one willing to be caught out ..... it sometimes just looks so easy for them to make money from fools :(

That said, I would make it my lifes aim to find the b****tard and remove him! I wouldn't sleep until I had sorted it in my own head.

Marx Mcrae 07 June 2010 11:16 PM

Sorry to hear you have been scammed mate wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It may not be to late. He may be away on buisness or something bizzare.

I remember paying somebody for a 3 port solenoid on here. He owed alot of people bits and after 6 months and finding out his address the 3 port turned up lol

allsop83 08 June 2010 09:15 AM

"i found a website that pinpoints exact location of the sender after her sister resended email to me!"

What website was that mate?

I sent the funds to lukehemming1983@live.co.uk - that was the paypal address.

I think between this and the bank account the fuzz will have plenty to go on.....how does all of this location/email/details stuff work? isp addresses etc.?

If you help me get my dosh back I will wear the England colours with pride and even cheer them on down my local.....haha.
