Very trusting people indeed!

I just sold my Winnebago.

A couple looked at it on Tuesday and spent about 2 hours with me.

The husband just called me up (beat me up a bit on price as you would expect) and we did a deal. £10,000 just arrived in my account as a deposit.

Now... everything is cool and I wouldn't dream of doing a runner but I met him at a camp site and he doesn't know my last name! All he has are bank numbers, a mobile phone number and details he might be able to get from eBay.

It is nice to do business with someone so trusting... I'm not sure if I could be as laid back if I was the purchaser.

There still are people who are prepared to trust someone.

Bought my impreza in a private sale like that, viewed the car at the guys house, verified all the details; Knew of the bloke through business, and have done a lot of work with the company he owns. Transfered £12K into his bank account. On the day I was due to collect the car I could not make contact with him. One of the longest days of my life. Transpired that he had been in the UK on business and had his phone stolen.

I don't think I would ever do that again unless buying from a mate.

When I sold my scooby the buyer was trusting too.
Agreed on £13k within minutes of him arriving to see the car. Explained the finance was still outstanding at this point, but I was planning to use part of his payment to settle it. No service book available as the dealer had not forwarded it, and there were no number plates on the car as I had just transferred the number plate.

Happy with the deal, he took 10k cash out of his pocket, came with me to the bank, withdrew another 3k, paid it into my account and drove away.

Some very trusting people out there indeed, certainly restores your faith in humanity.

But it does make you understand why some of these people get ripped off in the first place.

When I sold my E30 M3 rally car , a guy came over from Ireland see it and test drive it , said he wanted it and would sort the payment out , I didn't hear from him for a couple of days , apparently he had stayed in cardiff for a few nights with his missus , a day later I had £44k transfered into my account:eek: and he said when you can , bring it over , so I had someone deliver it to him a couple of days later , now thats trusting :thumb:
