Mobile phones and internet usage, how do you know ?
Ive just changed my mobile phone plan to include unlimited internet usage, Vodafone said it has a limit of i think 512mb per day.
What i want to know is the following. 1. How do you know how much data you are using when your connected to the internet ? As an example, lets say i was listening to some sports commentary on my phone via an internet website for an 80 mins game, roughly how much date would that count as ? 2. Is 512mb per day enough ? It says unlimited internet access but they say your limit is 512mb per day. Obviously you don`t want to be downloading music files straight to your phone and stuff like that, any info you can give us on internet usage would be appreciated. As i said above, i`m with Vodafone. Its just i`m not familiar with this as ive never really used the internet much via my mobile but i plan to use it a lot more from now on. |
Depends what station you listen to and the kbps, bbc radio is 64kbs so an hour is around 22.5 mb but a lot of stations are 128 kbs so 80 minutes of that and you are looking at around 60mb.

To give an idea and although i'm on 02, recieved data on my iphone since bought 3 months ago is 319mb and i'm on the internet all the time.
HTH Aaron:thumb: Just to say 512 mb is 8+ albums of music. |

I doubt it will be 512mb a day as that is something like 20gig a month and they aren't gonna let you have that? Unless your on youtube all the time or use your phone as a modem I doubt you will use 512mb a month never mind a day.

I have my fingers crossed for you lol.
As for measuring usage, I have data monitors on both phones to register network, wifi and roaming |
So... Vodafone iPhone deal;
75 mins, 250 texts, 1GB + wi-fi - 24 month, £25 (love that... free wi-fi...FFS!) Anyways... 1 Gig download per month, and then the website states; Browsing the Mobile internet and data usage.... 50p per day http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/pric...37&serverName= So like the OP. What's up? After 1gig does it stop the browsing, or does it charge without letting me know? |

Your never gonna use 1gig a month with a mobile phone browsing the web. I reckon reading the paper everyday at work on my phone plus all my emails and general browsing of the web will probs use 200mb a month. To go over this you haver to download stuff, use your phone as a modem or browse data intensive sites such as youtube etc. I'm with t mobile and it has a fair useage of 3gig and I doubt I could ever come close to that on a mobile phone, as for my home network I can do 100gig in a day :D |

I bet that's your phones usage since you got it, not just in america..?
To download a gigabyte you would have had to be on line constantly, watching mobile iplayer etcetc. |
