Jesus, I LOATHE that guy.

stilover 14 May 2010 12:10 PM

No doubt the Ginger Tw4t will paint it White. :nono:

EddScott 14 May 2010 12:10 PM

I wonder if he'll have it painted white - he's had other in his collection painted white and it does them no favours.

Jaybird-UK 14 May 2010 12:16 PM

The guy is a petrol head and I respect him for that, hell if I had shed loads of money I'd be buying cars too!

J4CKO 14 May 2010 12:17 PM

I dont mind him, he kind of at least acknowledges his weath, enjoys it and is slightly bemused by it, he does stuff for charity and seems to genuinely adore Ferraris and also seems to be keen to let people have a go in them.

Ok, he paid 12 million for that one, if he keeps it a while he will probably loose nothing and gain a few quid.

I do hope that he doesnt paint it white though, still, even if he does it can always be painted red again !

Don't mind him buying them. If I had his money, I'd probably buy a few classics myself. However, then painting them must surely devalue them somewhat?

He does let mates drive them though.

yep good on him, according to the paper thats a qtr of his fortune he's spent on 1 car :thumb:

I respect that kind of commitment, If I had plenty of cash I would be buying lots of old exotics :D no Rari's though as I'm not that keen on em :wonder:

J4CKO 14 May 2010 12:26 PM

There are plenty of people with more money than Chris Evans that havent a clue how to enjoy it, at least he is pretty much an open book, I always think he comes across as quite an intelligent, fun loving and genuine bloke, I used to love his Radio 1 breakfast show back in the day, the R2 is ok but I dont get chance to listen very often.

davyboy 14 May 2010 12:30 PM

Good luck to him.

He certainly never bought that on his BBC wages.

A good business man.

Butkus 14 May 2010 12:40 PM

I don't know that much about Chris Evans, so don't really have much opinion one way or the other.

What I don't like are all the negative comments he gets about spending the money on 'one car' (see the comments on the Daily Mail link), and that he's 'got not talent' etc so doesn't deserve the money etc etc. If he is so useless why don't they go out and make themselves a £40m+ fortune and see how easy it is. I believe he made it himself anyway, through his own business ventures. I can't stand the envy some people display - there's a mountain of money out there, GO AND GET IT!

Then there's all this cr4p about spending it on worthy causes. If that is the case, let's see those people spend any money they have left after essential purchases on good causes. It's not going to happen.

By the way, what's this about him painting all the cars white? That would be a crime if true. Surely it devalues them too, as they'd be unoriginal.

Simon C 14 May 2010 12:50 PM

I only envy him for 1 thing...

He got his mitts into Billie Piper.

austinwrx 14 May 2010 12:50 PM

his fleet of ferraris have all been painted white.

Norman D. Landings 14 May 2010 12:50 PM

His autobiography makes for a really good read. Good on him I say.

Leslie 14 May 2010 12:53 PM

Can't stand him myself. He seems to be pretty selfish the way he keeps poaching other people's radio programmes.

Fair play to the bloke I say!

He's earn't his money & my god he's enjoying it!

Can't be THAT talentless judging by his increasing audience.

And doesn't he loan some of his cars to the Magnificent Seven - where radio 2 listeners can bid to be part of a three day event getting to drive 7 different ferrari's, which he organises & goes on - incidently this year it raised over £450,000 for Children In Need!

I say live life to the full - it's not a rehersal!!

Not all of them.

He's definitely got a black one, and a yellow 612, and i'm sure his Enzo is still Red

I thought he was worth over £100m, well that was what was report when he sold Virgin. I like him, I remember watching him on Big Breakfast whilst working on my degree coursework back in the day. I used love him, with Zig and Zag, the jokes were so rude and funny.

As a country we tend to be negative towards success, which is the opposite in the US where success is commended.

He's earnt it, he's using it, so far play. I quite like his Radio 2 show and find him entertaining, although Im not a fan of Ferraris.

As for Billie Piper, obviously I would, but she talks like a wide mouthed frog and is dull. I like my women, dirty, cheap, and chavy ! :-)

Good luck to the guy I say, he's the one who put the work in earning it, he's entitled to spend it how he likes
Plus as Scooby Blue says, he puts a lot of effort in to raising a shedload of cash for Children In Need every year, and probably other things on the quiet too :thumb:

Funnily enough I was reading this last night;

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/...nvestment.html

He does make a good case for it

I'm hoping Mr Evans will be driving me around Dunsfold Park in his Enzo this Sunday!

Is that an organised thing or just like me hoping that Kelly Brook will nip round for an hour or two ?

Is it the Children in Need auction thing, I suppose thats part of why I like him as he doesnt mind showing them off and letting people have a go in them.

I think he is entertaining, I just can't stand looking at him. Best in the Radio jobs, methinks :D

The Zohan 14 May 2010 05:56 PM

Good on you Chris, great car, possibly the most beautiful car ever.

If you have the money then spend it, you cannot take it with you. I would if i had the wedge!:)

skoobidude 14 May 2010 06:35 PM

I take my hat off to him. No doubt he'll use the car as intended rather than park it in his lounge...
At least the guy is a petrol head. I read previously about him going on driving days and letting friends drive all his cars. Cool.
If he hadn't bought it, then someone else would I'm sure for similar money.

Nah :nono:

The 1957 Chevrolet Corvette is the most beautiful car ever made :cool:

The 250GT SWB is the most beautiful Ferrari ever made

Unfortunately the GT was not exactly aerodynamically stable at speeds in excess of 150mph, hence the GTO :D

Dunk 15 May 2010 12:07 AM

You either love him or loathe him, buying the Fezza is a great investment, how to have fun with your cash, buy an appreciating asset with profits that aren't subject to tax, so who's the fool now?
His biog is a brilliant read and shows how his determination and drive have led him to succeed, you have to admire him for that. It should be a complusory read for teenagers.

Les, I like you and normally enjoy reading your contributions to a thread. However, this comment is just one of the most stupid I've ever read from you!!

Who's shows has he poached?? If you are referring to his radio 2 breakfast show, he didn't poach that at all! Wogan decided it was time to go and Evans was asked to take over.

Give the guy a break! His fortune is self earned and he enjoys life! What's wrong with that??

Agreed.

Les, you haven't met the guy have you.

I have, he is a genuine decent bloke very passionate about enjoying life. I met him at a pub and bar show, I was on a coffee machine stand and he came over and took our offer of free coffee. chatted for quite a while he certainly is a petrolhead - funny but he is even taller than TV percieves him to be, towers over pretty much everyone, certainly commands the room in a positive way.

Posed free for some promotion snaps too

Fair play to him, I bet he's on the list for the 599 GTO too

dpb 15 May 2010 09:26 AM

Very nice , :)

For me id have diversified into yachts by this stage tho

Btw - has he had an accident here ?
