Greetings

Very new to this group, my dealer said to look it up. Have just ordered and am now eagerly awaiting the delivery of a new P1 towards mid march.

Having spent the last two years driving a brick it is such a relief to get into something with a bit of life! Have been running around in a 97 sport for the past month and life has certainly been given a kick up the ass!

Even the wife ! seems to think its OK ! (she must have some cunning plan up her sleave!)

Anywyas, hope to be a regular here, if anyone has any tips about owning a P1 do please pass them on.

Many thanks

Greg

It'll be several months before they can surgically remove the smile from your face when you first realise what that scoob can do.
I know what I was like when I got the RB5.

YOU LUCKY LUCK B@$***D !!!

Hi Guys

Thanks for asll the encouraging grins http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Believe me this has been a long time coming and I intend to enjoy every moment of it. Having driven some of the most amazing cars in the world the day I took that P1 for a test drive I just new there was something special about it.

If anyone fancies a burn round Goodwood on 26th March I have hired the track for the day, gotta make use of all that bhp somehow http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Greg

1. Get A Scooby Sport Down Pipe
2. Get A Scooby Sport or P1 Back box
3. Get an uprated dump valve
4. Get the big brake kit
5. Tell your insurance company
6. Get a Wax Wizard kit

DRIVE and ENJOY immenseley.

Then try removing the grin and your total sense of well being.

chiark 05 March 2001 10:45 AM

I'd echo the recommendations for both Wax Wizard and the P1 Insurance Scheme, through Tom (RUM *)(http://www.schofieldinsurance.co.uk)

Lucky swine!

simonburton 05 March 2001 10:48 AM

Had my P1 since December and have loved every minute driving it since. Agree with points 1-6 from Neil, but I have also fitted a Scoobysport de-cat centre section for that extra noise, throttle response and power.

If you have 18" alloys be very careful when parking; they are easily damaged!

Enjoy.

It's a lovely car. You'll like it very much. Had mine for 5 days now.

James_Harvey 05 March 2001 05:10 PM

Do you really need an uprated dump valve?
Which would you recommend?

ANDY330 05 March 2001 05:14 PM

bad move mate!

1)its now worth HALF of what it was when you bought it!
2)you could have got yourself an STI for 10k less and spent 2k making it look and feel like a P1
3)its not a cossie! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

scoobysnacks 05 March 2001 06:31 PM

Andy330,

So, if what you say is true:

1)You can now get almost brand new P1 for about 16k.

2)After buying a 2 door Type R it only costs 2K to: add 17" P1 wheels and tyres, change the suspension to smooth out the ride while making it handle better on UK roads, add ABS (almost impossible on a Type R), change the gearing for more relaxed cruising, remap the ECU for UK fuel, etc, etc.

3)No it's not a cossie, but it's far superior to any production Cossie I've ever seen.

Flame suit donned.

ANDY 3:45 Please!
What kind of WARRANTY comes with an import?
Not slating any import owners just 338 or whatever.
Cossie eh
I would dearly love to meet you and your car so i could make the fool that you are out of you and your COSSIE, so if you are ever in Cumbria then please please call me.MUPPET.

P1 Media, superb choice i am just waiting for my new one as my old one just did not want a relationship.
ENJOY
JAY.

AndyMc 05 March 2001 07:39 PM

Hi P1 Media

hope you have fun in your new P1 (I'm so jealous)

A word of warning though.Beware of lift off oversteer. It has caught loads of people out in the first year or so of ownership.Unfortunately it usually ends up with the car through a hedge, and normally on its roof. Not nice!

Apologies if you already know this but it is good advice to anybody new to Scoobs.

Andy

Enjoy ... I have http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Only real must is a set of AP-6 pots.

The rest is optional

but I have (in order of Pref)

P1 (or SS rear Box)

SS DownPipe

18" Wheels (Better in Dry - Worse in yet than the 17"s) So up to U...

ITC Air Filter

Decent bulbs ... cheaper that the £420 for the Hlight upgrade

..R

PS. I know of two that have just sold their Standard P1s, one for £28.5K with 5k miles and the other for £25k with 15K miles - so don't listen too much to those who go on about the value.

adamp 05 March 2001 10:38 PM

P1 Media,
Had my P1 for 6 weeks, love it to bits. It's an absolutely great car, just as good at tearing round UK B roads as it is on the motorway, as it is driving around town or even putting 4 people in and a months worth of shopping in the huge boot. It really us the ultimate car. Enjoy many years of wonderful motoring.

Andy330,

I am sorry but I am a little lost....

you mention cossie??

why are you discussing swimming garments on a car bulletin board... next thing you'll be discussing swimming goggles, shallow ends deep ends diving boards changing rooms and the price of hiring a locker.....

but may be it's just me being dim...

Dave

DrEvil 06 March 2001 02:15 PM

P1 Media,

Nice one, as most know I almost sold my recently due to future plans, but decided against it, cos I work out how I can keep it and do the other stuff http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Brillant car.. recommend you get:

Scoobysport Downpipe + ITG panel filter
Prodrive or AP brake upgrade
Prodrive or Scoobysport Backbox
PIAA head/side light bulbs (http://www.drmotorsport.co.uk/)

And of course WaxWizzard kit!

Enjoy.. I've done 17K miles in 5 months of ownership, it just gets better http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
