For the 250 quid end, you could have the Kenwood 6090 MP3 player - many people have those and recommend them. A friend has one, and I think it's pretty good...

Agree with Chiark
I got my MP6090 in Tottenham Court Road for £255 with a bit of haggling, or it's at |
I plan to spend between £150-£250 on a single CD Head Unit.
Here are the head units I am currently interested in: Clarion DXZ618R Kenwood KDC-5090R Alpine CDM-7859RB I'd be interested in anyone who has any of these head units or similar models and whether they are worth the money. Any views/comments would be appreciated on what I should go for or if there are any other ones I should also consider. Many Thanks. MW |
At the £150 end you won't go wrong with a 5090R. I have the 5080R - paid £150 and it is brilliant - I once took the phono feed off it and played it in the house and it is just as good as a mid-budget domestic CD player with lots of detail and a nice tone.
MP3 would be tempting at £250 though, but other than that the 6090 is very similar. |
Has anyone else got any views/comments?
Thanks. MW |
I've got a Kenwood 5090R and it's a nice unit. I chose it over an equivalent Alpine unit as I thought the Alpine looked a bit plasticky in comparison.
Sound is good, but some of the buttons are a bit small and fiddly, and the display has too much superfluous (sp?) information. |
