4.44 shafts fit a R160[3.9] diff ok?

As above also would a ty856wb1aa gearbox fit the classic box cradle?:D

If the 4.44 shafts are from a Type R then no they won't. They are R180 shafts and are bigger and won't fit into the R160 hubs.

its a version 3 STI with standard 4.44 rear diff.

All you have to do is pair like with like so if the diff is an R160 then you need R160 Shafts

If it's the larger R180 then you'll need R180 shafts, they are not interchangeable.

Ratios dont matter but diff size does.

I think the version 3 STI had a 4.11 R160 as standard.

iIthink the version 3 wrx had a 4.111 and the STI's 4.44.I fear your right about the shafts not being interchangable though..

I thought 4.44 was RA and Type R only?? R180 shafts will definatly not fit a R160 diff like Daz says.

Is there something different with R160 shafts as well depending on year? When I was looking for a replacement R160 3.54 rear diff for my MY99 years ago I read there was a difference in the way the shafts fit from earlier years so if I had an older diff I would need the shafts as well. Can someone clarify that?

Until MY98 the splines on the diffs side are different length!
Afterwards on MY99/00 WRX/STIs they are the same length!
