New ADSL wireless modem router needed
Looks like my Netgear dg834gt is giving up the ghost - it's started dropping the adsl when someone uses the landline phone. Tried different filters but no difference. The 834 is 4 to 5 yrs old so probably getting tired.
So, looking for a wireless N adsl replacement as improved coverage/signal over the current box would be good. Don't want to go daft on price, picked up 2 new wireless N laptop cards for £5 each:) So far I've found the below possible replacements. Everywhere I look though I find mixed reviews for both. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-N-Wir.../dp/B000X1FDV2 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Anyone care to offer a recommendation or reasonable alternative. |
Just a thought, but i would (indeed have) buy a separate router and wireless access point, so that you can upgrade either as technology changes - or even have two WAPs with different settings (plus a plain router)!

Firstly, make sure your phone wiring is up to scratch. See http://www.rob-r.co.uk/other/UKphonecatwiring.htm for tips. If you can rewire in Cat5/cat5e then do so.
Then, for a good wireless router get a Draytek. Costs more but it'll be rock solid. Dave |
