Decent BBQ?
 

Time to buy a new Barby, looking for a 3 grill with side burner, any recommendations. There are a few out there but does anyone actually have or tried one?

Those Ozzie look alikes are quite good. Do get one with a hood and perhaps a facility for a spit roast thingy. I have a cheap and cheerful two grill with side burner which I hardly ever use. Do cover it well in winter if left outside - those green barby covers are useless. dl

Depends on budget , But Weber make some of the best BBQ's, I have the Genesis E320 and its very good :thumb:

The charcoal brigade will be along shortly to dismiss the gas BBQ, but having switched 10 years ago I'd never go back. The convenience is just too good to give up, we BBQ a lot during the summer instead of cooking normal dinner, A quick fire up, cook and turn off - job done! :thumb:

I'd definitely go with outback too; be it charcoal or gas. We have one of each - gas for convenience, charcoal for the "authentic BBQ experience" (although the outback charcoal cooks very evenly and isn't much good at the "black on the outside, raw on the inside authenticity! ;) ). Both are great.

Outback had 1 for 7 years till it was so corroded the ceramic plates fell through. Brother welded it and is still using it!
Now my 2nd and second year! have ahuge charcoal one but cant be arsed in comparison!
would use whenever not too windy!

GAS???:eek::eek::eek: That's not barbecuing!!! That's just taking your hob outdoors!

I took 2 and a half hours to cook some belly pork and chicken joints last week on mine - do a proper job get a Brinkman and add water soaked applewood woodchips. Open a bottle of red and enjoy the smoky results a couple of hours later. Lush!

Loving the Weber BBQs but fook me they are tad on the expensive side. Now I am not usually one to let price get in the way of quality, but I live in Scotland so the barby will be lucky to see sunshine twice a year. It will however be sat outside in the peak of summer more likley than not totally covered in snow :D

Outback seems to be the way to go.

My barbys tend to include 10 adults, 4 million kids, a bouncy castle and water slide.
Sitting back with a vino, waiting 2.5 hours for some chicken won't happen for me.
More like guzzling Stella while juggling 200 sausages and trying to stick the crap burgers back together that the neigbours brought round :D

I'll stand by our outback BBQ (2 burner model - paid about £130 in the sales), its left outside all year and must be getting close to ten years old now and its still going.

It did require some welding about three years ago as the metal that supported the burner had rusted away. The inner bumper off a smashed Nissan kindly donated materials to repair the section :)

Apart from that I've just kept the wood oiled/varnished and degreased+jetwashed it couple of times a year (it gets used every weekend in the summer to do my ribeye steaks when the weather is ok :) ) , the drip tray now has a hole in, and the lava rock tray looks somewhat fragile now, which I suppose I should patch, could do with some fresh lava rock too. Meh, I may treat myself to another one of the same. ;)

gas bbqs are for gurls . get a big fire going and if you cant throw on some petrol .. job done :thumb:

I saw a Tesco ad today and they have a 3 grill with side burner and hood for about £140 on-line. Also a charcoal b-b-q for about £60. Probably won't last as much as a posh one but the sausages will taste the same and certainly value for money. dl

Furthermore if you don't have to resort to using some kind of highly flammable liquid to light it, singing your hair and eyebrows, telling the fire brigade it was a false alarm and having to choose from the 'least burnt' sausages............................you havn't done it right:D

Over here (Alberta Canada ) BBQ's get used 12 months of the year and every house as one on the decking.

Having gone through 2 cheapo BBQ in the last 2 years I can defiantly say there is a difference in the taste of the food .

Charcoal grills are OK for camping when you have more time , But for convenience you cant beat a good Gas grill. We use ours with a wood smoker as well.

One of our favourite recipies is Salmon cooked on a cedar plank (soaked in beer for an hour ) served with tarragon sauce.

Another one is Beer Can Chicken were the whole chicken is cooked with a 3/4 full can of Canadian Molson up its rear end (or Stella :D) over the grill.

There's more to BBQ cooking than sausages and burgers. ;):thumb:

I'm in the market for a Gas BBQ also. I already have a charcoal one.

I would like a 2-burner one - BUT it needs to use Lava rock within it?

Anyone knowof a decent sub£150 one?

Get a Brinkman, they are excellent BBq's for the price. Costco has an excellent on in at the moment for £200.

Ordered the Outback I linked to above. Outback Excelsior 3 Burner Gas Barbecue.

Average online price is about £430-450, however Tesco Direct have 20% off so have got it for a staggering £343.

For anyone looking for a new garden anything, get onto tesco before monday 20% off everything.
