New Bridgestone S-02's on each corner, 215x40 17"
Everyone seems to have a different opinion on tyre presures. Anyone ever found a setup that really seems to make a difference re tyre wear and handling? |
I run 32 Front and 30 Rear on my Eagle F1's 215/40/17
|
I run 32psi all round on my 17 inch toyo's
|
I run 34/35 front, 30/31 rear depending of the weather and the driving style, this gives me more oversteer than others!

40/40.
Yes, I know that's probably too high but with all the roundabouts in my area I've got to do something to stop the wear. I've done 15k on the original tyres and there's 50%+ left on them. I can't really tell if I'm losing much grip either in the dry, the wet grip gives more understear and it's a bit harder on the ride. F |
16" Toyos, 36 front, 34 rear

32s all round on my 16" toyos

I have S02s on 16inch wheels. After trying many different pressures I find 34 front and 29 rear to work best for me. It seems to give it a litter more grip on the front and (combined with the Powerstion mod) much less understeer and so sharper turn-in.

Shouldn't we be following Subaru guidelines here ? My previous Turbo was 32 front 33 rear. My MY02 is the same but has 215/45/17 as opposed to 205/50/16 on the latter. I checked the pressures for the first time this morning and the dealer had set them to 36 fr. 34 rear. I adjusted it to 32/33 respectively. Whats best for the new age impreza ?

Yorkie, see my reply in general. Manual page 12-5 for your car (if you are still on original tyres/rims, 33f 32r). The STI is 28r.

16" running Pzeros, 36F 34R
works for me :) Justin |
32F 30R on SO2 PP's on 215/40/17 as i found this the best balance, ive tried 36F and 34R but found that i got too much oversteer on that, just depends on how you want to drive really but never had much in the way of probs and grip ;)
Best way to do it is take the car out on std, give her a run, come back, let the tyres cool so the pressures settle, add/subtract a couple of PSI and try again to see what you prefer. Tony:D |
Have been running 32psi all round on S-O2s, but have suffered excessive shoulder wear on the fronts.
I'm currently trying an extreme 36psi at the front to even the wear out a bit, but the car now feels quite skittish. Think I'll probably go back to 32psi and live with only wearing out the edges of the tyre before binning them! |
