How Do You Get Anti-Lag Or Where Do You Get It From

hey guys heard a lot about antilag how does it work and where do you get it from

chocolate_o_brian 25 April 2010 04:47 PM

It's something that can br programmed into certain ECU software (like Simtek for example). If I remember correctly it's a system which when coming off boost, keeps the turbo spinning in order to prevent turbo 'lag' - hense the name anti lag. The unburnt fuel in the exhaust system create the pops and bangs associated with anti-lag.

Specialists will know the exact ins and outs but thats the basics IIRC. :thumb:

Zen1 25 April 2010 05:27 PM

any tuners in leeds where you can get this done from

RA Dunk 25 April 2010 05:30 PM

if set up correctly it will chew a turbo in no time, or you can get it mildly set up which will make little or no difference

The Rig 25 April 2010 05:32 PM

sounds lurvly but on a road car, why ?

HT04 25 April 2010 05:33 PM

if you have to ask what it is,.. then you shouldnt get it !!!!!

Because it's the in thing innit, it sounds wikid man! :D

Rich D 25 April 2010 05:37 PM

as already mentioned, pukka anti-lag will destroy your turbo, it's not meant for road cars

ThePoorMansScooby 25 April 2010 06:07 PM

Got it on mine running gems.Havent used it much because i dont want to fook the turbo.
Although it does sound amazing so its hard to resist lol.

allsop83 26 April 2010 11:28 AM

You can have "anti Lag" mapped into certain software but it isn't real anti-lag....just makes the pops and bangs assosiated with it....

Real anti lag will chew up your turbo in no time as has already been said and it not really designed for road cars......

M444GY 26 April 2010 03:19 PM

sounds good but can muller the turbo, the antilag you hear on rally cars is alot more agressive than some of the road cars that are mapped with it !

urban 26 April 2010 04:06 PM

I'll sell you some :D

f4la k 26 April 2010 04:38 PM

Ive also got a can for sale:wonder:....

Jamesae86 26 April 2010 04:40 PM

if you get it set up mildly will it be ok on the turbo for very occasional use, but still give enough noises to keep one happy? :)

TonyBurns 26 April 2010 04:44 PM

If you just want the pops n bangs then that can be mapped in ;):)

Tony:)

said this to my tuner and he said this will damage the engine over time. would rather something i can switch on that wont do damage as it would be used very rarely.

TonyBurns 26 April 2010 04:56 PM

Anti lag in any form will do alot more damage than a bit of overfuelling (which your car does anyway ;))

Tony:)

IanSmith 26 April 2010 05:08 PM

Duncan Racedynamix can add the option for anti-lag on a euc remap :p

GC8 26 April 2010 08:48 PM

The tinsel of anti-lag = a few pops and bangs on the over-run...

stedee 26 April 2010 09:57 PM

dont the titanium tubbys get on better with antilag

i think the theory is to get it to backfire which spins the tubby hence less lag when you put your foot down again. i do know evos have a system (sas) built in to enable antilag but it isnt enabled - part of the homolgation or something like that

does sound awesome though

a lil vid - best halfway through - sound doesnt come through properly though (my phone) the pops are alot louder.

Only works on a pukka rally car, you'll get the sound & wrecked turbo on a road car though ...

TX.

yeah i have a simtek ecu on my 98 sti but i opted out of the antilag as its really hard on the turbo, turbo`s can be expensive so it wasnt really worth it,,, antilag is not really needed on a road car anyway, it does look and sound the part tho

:wonder::wonder::wonder:

only thing it damages is cats, if you have them ;), had it on mine for 4+ years now no issues and know lots of folks the same so not sure where they have got that from. my guess is they mean anti lag, not just extra fuel in the over run. bear in mind it has to be set up for it properly.

im talking about the over run on mine not anti lag.

antilag is pub talk only when it comes to road cars, its not very agressive, does little and will still damage the turbo and exhaust valves. i know a chap who destroyed his engne within two weeks of getting the mild version of it. it just simply isn;t worth it.

simply put its not worth it and if you wnt the noise get it in the over run

no turbos get on well with it, wrc turbos are removed and replaced after every event due to the damage they get form it so if they can;t stop the damage then nothing will.

Stoff1 30 April 2010 08:35 AM

how do you mean get it on over run?
is this something you can do on a remap?

Yes

ThePoorMansScooby 30 April 2010 09:01 PM

Does this not do anyones head in constant pops and bangs on over run!?

stevebt 30 April 2010 09:25 PM

Is ecu dependant and you don't need it, its on my ecu but I don't have it connected and my turbo can take it without any worries whereas your turbo will break very quickly.

X2, anyone that has this done? how loud is it?

RA Dunk 30 April 2010 10:03 PM

I know people who have had to go back to the mapper to have it turned off again
