Turbo choices for v1 engine
Hi all as per my project thread im building/reshelling my car and will be using a built 2.0l.
Im looking into my turbo options but am unsure on what i can use given the manifold etc, i like the sound of alan`s s206 but as far as i can work out its a front entry unit as with the md series, my standard position turbo is the 90deg entry type. What are my options, can i fit a later type manifold so i can use a fe unit? will the carl davey spacers lift the manifold enough etc. Any advice will be greatly appriciated. |

easyest way if fitting front entry turbo to v1orv2 is to get hold of 90'degree samco bend
and pipe to fit on frontetry turbo and make it to side-entry, or harderway is to fit manifold spacer's to lift manifold up and change to frontentry but power/steering bottle needs modifying and waterpipes&fuel pipes changed or change to remote p/s bottle lot of work, have done this on my v2 |

You'd have to use a ally joiner to join it to the OEM 90deg down-turned black corrugated turbo intake pipe. So if you get an ally joiner pipe of suitable length, then it can be pushed into the upturned Samco untill it won't go any further (i.e. stops against the inside of the Samco's bend). That way, it'll be totally stiff on the Samco's downward leg... and with just the bend + the very short horizontal leg of the Samco going to the turbo's inlet collar. Should be fine... |

Best to go under the inlet as bly says, if getting "serious". ;)
