Which fuel pump
Im going to install a fuel swirl pot to my V5 Type-R
Now its fairly standard and am not going to tune it. I currently have a Walabro 255 fuel pump in my tank So was wondering which secondary fuel pump id need to fit between the swirl pot and fuel filter? Im going to fit the swirl pot on the nearside chassis leg up against the bulk head and the secondary fuel pump next to it. Should i just get another Walbro 255???? or 1 not so high pressure????? or 1 at a higher pressure????? Thanks in advance |
lower pressure pump in tank,Walbro 255 will be fine , external higher pressure pump sucking fiom swirl pot ,like
Bosch 044 or the higher pressure walbro pump that they make,i use Bosch 044 |
Lateral sell a higher capacity Walbro pump suitable for your application.
My pal has one in his Ev*. HTH dunx P.S. Upto 450 bhp the std. Walbro should be fine. IMHO. |
Which is the higher pressure pump that walbro do?
|
It's higher flow, not pressure as that wouldn't help anything....

Whats the diffrence between hi flow and high pressure? does it not add up to the same thing?
|
Not quite, the fuel pressure regulator sorts the supply pressure, the pump has to flow enough fuel at the rated pressure....
So for a given pressure you need a higher flow rate pump to feed the engine, to achieve more power. HTH dunx |
If the higher flow Walboro is £141, then I think I'd still go for the Bosch 044 for the extra £10 or so and use your existing 255 Walbro as a lift pump. If you want to save money just use another 255.

Well im not going for more power, just want a set up so i dont suffer from fuel surge.
Would the 255 be ok for that or do i need a diffrence between the 2 pumps? Remember im not going for more power. |
255 will be fine.
|
If its only going to see light track use mate why not just run a bosch in tank (as I am), no need for a swirl pot, additional relays/wiring, fuel lines and plenty of fuel on tap ;).
|
Even with a bigger pump in the tank, if your fuel is low you could still get fuel surge and take up a gulp of air with out a swirl pot.
Think im gonna go for another Walbro 255. |
At a half tank I have fuel surge on track in my99 classic. I will defo be goin for a swirl pot as keepin the bloody thing full of fuel is a pain in the ar*e
|
Yea, its a good sensable mod.
I'm planing on mounting mine on my N/S chassis leg near the bulk head, i think it will fit nice there. |
