Cisco ASA 5510

Anyone here do Cisco..?

We bought a Cisco ASA 5510 near 2 years back, however never got used, though some basic configuration was carried out.

It was purchased with a ASA SSM-10 module also another feature to which we have lost the licence key to though it was installed on to the unit..The cost was near £5500.

I have misplaced the blue console cable that comes with it, and have tried a different one but not able to connect.

I have connected the ASA to the LAN, and am able to ping it, however not accessible via telnet or the web browser. If i recall right there was a peice of software required to access this..

Does anyone know what it is called?

Thanks

Just a guess, maybe only SSH was enabled instead of telnet so you'll need to use something like Putty to connect to it

I use Cisco but not Firewalls. But console port access should be the same as for a router anyhow. Youll need a rollover cable - you can pick one up off ebay just modify the pinout of an existing cable as per here:

Also maybe these links will help for alternative access:

i am presuming you set the baud, parity and stop bits correctly

also might be worth changing the flow control

Good point hodgy. Also if you think your cable is the correct pinout then try it on another cisco just to be sure it and your connection works.

The baud Rate is set correct, i think it may just be the cable..

I think you are after the Cisco ASDM-IDM Launcher?
