Track day at Marham, Norfolk
Anyone from here going to the track day on the RAF base in Marham this coming weekend?
I've finally got the car sorted, and hopefully I'll make it up there in time for sign on. Pre 5AM start for me to get up there in time for sign-on and briefing  It's only my second track day, so I'm really really excited (and scared). Hopefully I'll make it up, have a blast on track and drive the car home at the end of the day :) |
yeah marham is good. Let us know how fast you get on the straight. :)

before or after the engine explodes? :D

Hey I see you've got some pics of brands in your profile... what's it like? I'm considering going to one of their novice days (marham will be my second outing on track).

I'm not sure where the full list of participants is, but that's a small subset at least :) I think there's another marham day coming up in October.

brands is awesome. totally different to marham and dare i say it better? :)
I started with a novice day at brands. and tbh there is nothing to be scared of. go straight in with a open pit day if its a better deal. most people are crap on track anyway lol. |
Just got back now.
All I can say is, wow, the scooby is a superb car for this kind of stuff! Didn't miss a beat all day and handled exceptionally well even with a complete numpty such as myself at the wheel. Melted the slicks, but that's what they're there for :) I reckon they still have one track day in them :) Reached exactly 160mph indicated down the straight before lifting off, not sure what real speed this converts into. Car had a little bit left, but not a lot more to be honest, certainly not with the braking point quickly approaching. |
That must be one hell of a high speed track. Ideal for big powered cars.

^^ 15.34 for me & same top speed (bouncing off rev limiter!) ... 18 something is still pretty good - the chap I drove there with owns a 460hp hawkeye & he ran high 17's. Stunned that the track car owners were well below 10s

under 10 is insane.... how fast does a bike do it?
|
Indicated 160 is around 150. At Marham I had a GPS recorded 164mph and the needle on my speedo was pointing straight down - well past the 160mph mark.
Did the 30-130 in around 15secs from memory, but that was last year with a 40-50mph head wind - they had to tie the timing caravan to a big 4X4 to stop it taking off :D |
Forged bottom end and bigger turbo for next year:thumb:
Just waiting to see what the SC 460 billet turbo does. |
Mine was a true 158 as measured on V Box timing gear. Speedo was miles off the clock  Rev limit was only thing stopping a faster top speed. Highest top speed of the day was 187mph from memory ...
