Thinking about upgrading teh front brakes from MY99 standard to either of the above.

In terms of cost and which is best etc, Can anyone provide comments on either and whether it is worth going the extra expense for braided hoses.

Only fast road application for now

Not sure if you mean pads or discs and pads. The Pagid Blues are very good and probably the best but they are expensive. The TSL DS2500 Ferodos have had good reports and should be fine for road use. The Pagids are said to eat discs a bit and the Ferodos are kinder to discs.

We actually use Pagid's new RS421 in our kits.

The Blues were never hard on discs, but the new 421 material is both silent and gives virtually no dust... all with the same performance as RS42 (blue).

These are as good as it gets with the standard calliper.

Ah yes... the beloved DS2500.. what a pad! :).. it has the same co efficient of friction at 50 degrees at it does at 600 degrees!!!.. now thats clever!:).. what this means in the real world is that the brakes always feel the same. great in the morning when you're not quite awake.. Instant pedal!. better still it allows you to fix braking points for fast road or track use which can be maintained irrespective of temperature.

Best of all.. if you are a lazy get like me..;).. they are a VERY low dust pad.. even when bedding in.

Last of all.. on the recent test day with Ferodo at donners we were seeing just 65-70% of the pad temperature compared to DS3000 despite the fact the lap times were the same! (Clio Cup and Single seat Renault cars). Very disk and hub grease friendly!..

Basically I am after better feel and more stopping power. I am probably not going to do track days but never say never.

Probably looking at both discs and pads.

What benefit for road driving would braided hoses give?

I am useing Pagid 8 groove disc's & Pagid RS42(blue) pads and think that they are brilliant for road use,also they are great value for the extra performance that you get,and look good!!!

I'm just back from the Rally Cat trip and 2500 miles of full bore motoring.

I went for the DS2500, Group N discs, braided hoses and Pro Race fluid from TSL. Much better pedal feel with the hoses and Pro Race fluid.

Zero fade coming down a mountain chasing Pete, a P1 and a WRX. Multiple slow downs from 120+ on the C25 and motorways without even a blink. Thumbs up from me.

Edit to say car is an MY99 UK 4dr with std 4 pots.
