Hi all,
Had my 99 turbo a few days now. When driving it hard and changing gear quickly I get a loud thump when I bring up the clutch quick and jam the throttle to the floor, is this usual?

p.s. I think i'm in love ;)

Mark (?)
Go for drive (hard I know) and try driving a little more Progressively, and a little less aggressively, IE, don't let the clutch up with a wallop, you'll be amazed how much nicer it feels.
It isn't even any slower!

Yeah, i'm learning to do that, i'm just worried theres a problem with the car.

Almost certainly no problem, it's almost as if it overboosts slightly, and backs off violently so as to avoid damage to itself, but in reality all it does is worry the driver, mine used to do it all the time until I learnt how to drive around it, nothing wrong with the car though.

Cheers Ron, i'll sleep easy now :)

My MY01 does this but only if you're really "going for it"! I thought there was something seriously wrong with the transmission (there shouldn't be any slack in a new car), however, the dealer said that all scoobies did it. I suspect it's the "plates" in the rear LSD trying to play "catch up".

Maybe someone can come up with a more technical explanation?

Think this is a combination of the hard clutch material and snatch in the AWD drivetrain.

As RON says, try and learn to be more progressive with the clutch, it's just a quick.

Cheers
Tim
