More Problems
 
Right here we go again:rolleyes:
Last weekend on the way up to the RR day the car developed a misfire at 6000rpm. So the last few days i have needed to use the car and no problems. However.....today the car has started to miss between 2.5k and 3k:wonder: So i had to stop for fuel so put half a tank full of v-power and then jumped back in and the car wouldnt start:brickwall Anyway gave it a minute or so and she fired up although missing like a pig from idle:mad:

Now the weird thing is,i removed the fuel cap (the screw in one) and hey presto no problem 80-90mph on the M4 with no problems.

Any ideas:wonder: Im thinking maybe a fuel pump issue:idea:

Bloody hell dude, that ain't good!! May have something to do with the vacuum in the tank?

maybe a long shot but have you tried the fuel pump connector block located under the rear seats ?
i had a similar problem on two of my other impreza's classic's i used to own and turned out to be the block connector it had partly been squashed were i must of pressed down on it with my knee when cleaning the car out (rear seats are quite thin) and it also had burnt the connectors so the power supply was on/off if you know what i mean.

worth a look.

What a nightmare calv :( Another bad thing is i seen another black spoilerless classic absolutely identical to yours today in bridgend, right down to the same numberplate !:D

Have you run the car low on fuel? You could have picked up some cr@p from the bottom of the tank.
I have a spare walbro pump here, but I got it for a newage, not sure if it would fit a classic.

Sounds like the breather pipe back to the charcoal condenser is blocked. This will cause a large vaccum to develop in the tank. Does it sound like a dump valve when you open the filler cap. Have a look under the car for the fuel lines I'm sure the breather pipe runs on the drivers side and the fuel lines run inside the car. Try removing the charcoal condenser. I'll send you a pic of mine so you can see how to reconnect the pipes after removal.

Calvin, welcome to my world a few weeks ago.

Wot I did wos:

Seats out and check the pump runs with the ignition on.

Disconnect the fuel line from the filter inlet and switch ingnition on, should have flow.

Reconnect and disconnect the out pipe, ignition on should have flow.

Fuel filter off and empty it into a jar, check for ****e in the petrol.

Fuel pump out.

Check the fuel pump bag.

Check into the bottom of the tank through the fuel pump hole and check for crap in the bottom. Easily done with some thin tubing and your finger. Get the hose to the bottom of the tank, finger over the end of the hose and lift out. Tube in a glass jar and finger off (probably egg sucking here for you) fuel drops in and check for ****e.

Check the pump runs when it's not mounted in the tank.

On the drivers side under the rear seat you have an electrical connector, make sure it OK and the wires are carrying current with the ignition on.

Since I drilled a hole through the centre of the fuel cap mine as never had over pressure/suction when you take it off and not had the problems I had before :norty:

I have the same problem filled up with v-power and the car is running terrible very lump idle 900-1400 rpm blip the throttle and its just cuts out.

my cars been running lumpy since pcad its on E and im just about to fill it with V power again so if the worsed happens im gunna give Ian,s method a go,
dylan if you can post the pics you got on here that would be great :D
