Recomended head gasket/bolt kits
can any one recomend a head gasket/bolt kit?
ive seen a few on ebay but am unsure of their quallity, are the flat four online kits worth the extra cash? car's an 95 ej20 wrx wagon running about 350bhp, do i need a cosworth head gasket? or is a nrmal subaru one adequit? cheers |
Import Car Parts(???) do the STi multi layer steel shim types for £89 plus postage. These are more than adequate.
You normally wouldn't need to replace the bolts (unless any of them are obviously knack'd). You can replace them with the Subaru OEM 11mm ones... or spend c.£160 to 200+ for uprated ARP or Cosworth 11mm direct replacement items. The ARP ones are a fair bit cheaper than the Cosworth ones. Although either are not really needed until high(ish) bhp - c.400+. But if you have the cash............. ;) |
Make sure you get the correct thickness of HGs for your MY's engine!

nice 1 joz, didnt realise the head bolts are re-usable. thanks for the advice

I don't think the Subaru OEM bolts are all that expensive (relatively speaking). So for peace of mind...................

importcarparts.co.uk is a great place, I just bought the sti gaskets for £89 and theyre are 100% better and stronger than the normal gaskets, well worth the money. They also do new head bolts for £35, plus everything else you could want

cheap?? i think not lol As said, the ARP and Cosworth uprated ones are up towards the £200 mark!!! And then you can get even higher rated ones (for mega boost pressures) - and these are mega bucks to match! |
