'High compression ratio'

Hi,

Whats the advantage of running a higher than standard compression ratio?
For example Cosworth have a 2.5L tall engine with a standard compression ratio of 8:2:1 and a tall engine with a compression ratio of 9:2:1.
What would be the advantage of running the 9:2:1 compression ratio?

Many thanks :thumb:

Better spool, better off boost drivability and better response.

However it will be very sensitive to fuel quality. High comp turbo motors are for either low boost, low timing applications. Or must be used with very high quality race fuels etc.

In this case, that motor will need race gas to get the most out of it.
