cheers guys.

another thing it is currenty sloppy as hell, could this be sumthing else wrong, before i fit this shifter?

If the toothed nylon type bush that holds the shifter is worn yes it would be sloppy. Also if the linkage attachment to the shifter isn't tight it would be sloppier. I took mine apart today, quite funny that this thread came up. I was considering changing but it looks as good as new I'm sticking with OEM rather than step into the unknown.

im guessing u have to get to the bush with the car on the ramp as it cant be done from inside?

Inside job, from what I could see. Remove the lower dash fascia to get to the shifter, remove holding plate, weather gasket and you can see your driveway:D The shifter sits in a little tealight shaped holder held in by a snap ring, uncouple the bolt that holds the shifter to the transmission, remove snap ring and then pull out shifter, from what I could see.
