Easily hackable Models/ECU's?
Hi all :smug:
I'm possibly looking to buy a scooby soon as a daily runaround to replace my Audi A4. As I like to tinker, I would like to choose one based on how easily I can recalibrate it myself. I've seen OpenECU, but i'm wondering what other ECU hack 'systems' are out there, and/or which is the best year/model of car to allow ease of access? Right now i'm aware of the GC 'WRX' and 'STI' models being the main differences in spec. This may sound a bit vague, but let me know if you need more specifics. Thanks! |
hi there
afaik OpenECU does only work with 2001 onwards models, the older ones are read only (1999 & 2000) The older versions 1993 - 1998 are not ecutek-able, you may use a piggyback unit on the ECU plate or replace the whole ECU unit with a unit made by Apexi, HKS or others. Legacy Turbo, 1993 until 1996 have the same plugs, 1997-1998 are 3 plug and the 99 & 2000 models are also different If you want do do OpenEcu by yourself, buy a exhausttemp-gauge and a wideband lamda gauge (Bosch sensor & any gauge), found this on ebay and would like to sell it again (new & unused) due to accident. cheers Nico |
